I just used mine to make a purchase at McDonald's. Worked great even with the otter box defender case on.

Maybe I just had a bad pass. I'd try it again with the Defender on, but I don't want to get shamed by the cashier again for a botched transaction.

authenticate the app while you're in line = getting your credit card or cash out of your wallet while you're in line.

Just sayin..... :) BTW I do use GW.

Nu uh. With your Debit Card and some Credit Cards, you have to enter a pin or zip code, and then the cashier has to punch in a code to tell the register what type of card you are using, etc. Not all registers are like this, but most of the ones I've been to are. With GW, I just tap and it's paid for. Nothing else to fiddle with.

yes, installed beautifully.

when i asked if having google wallet on device would void warranty, tech rep in albuqurque said, "no, google wallet will not void warranty."

that was last night about 10:30 pm.

(no longer w/ dsc myself)

Did you hold it steady over the scanner?

It worked perfectly in CVS today. I held my phone to the area on the card read marked with "pay pass" (so that it was actually touching it), a screen that said "sending" or something came up on my phone, then the authorization went through. Took no more than 5 seconds.

I installed it using the rooted / flashing method and had lots of force close errors. I also couldn't top up the pre-paid card. The transaction just wouldn't go through (tried two different cards). I also had other problems with Android attempting to update apps every time it started.
While looking for an answer to those problems the APK was released. I flashed back to stock, unlocked the bootloader and installed the APK. I could top up the card and I tried it at a store yesterday.
Everything went smooth and the cashier seemed to be familiar with the process.

I just woke the phone, held it to the card reader, the card reader beeped, the phone asked for my PIN, I held it to the reader again (but it didn't take), I held it closer and longer and it beeped a second time. The cashier said "looks like it read it that time" "do you want a receipt?"
I said no thanks and left with 3 or 4 people behind me staring in amazement / bewilderment.

I really like GW. But I don't see myself topping off the card very often just to play with service. If it could pull from my every day card then I would use it as often as possible. Also if more places around here took Wallet as a payment I would use it more. But as it stands I'm limited to Home Depot, McDonald's, and some gas stations. And I can only use the service at the gas stations if I'm paying inside. I normally don't see the inside of those places more then once every month or longer. But here's to hoping that more places in my area get on board the service and more cards can be used with the service.

Yeah, held it steady on the reader... Wallet opened up, entered my PIN, and it looked like it was trying to communicate to the reader but it stayed on that screen for a good five seconds, and then it finally gave up when I pulled the phone away from the reader and then the cashier got all cranky because then she had to get a manager to void the transaction. Just earlier I tried it on the same register without the Defender case and it worked flawlessly.

I used it for the first time this morning at Quick Check. Got coffee and a news paper. It worked flawlessly. The guy working the resister loved it and insisted I explain to him how it worked. He was amazed.

Used it at McDonalds this morning. Lady next to me was very confused but never said anything. Worked great.

I've only used it once, but it worked great. The app was not open ahead of time but opened right up when I went to use it. I didn't have a case on it at the time but it will the next time i try.

Maybe we can take these opportunities to advertise our phones a little to the person in line behind us? I really want this phone to sell well so that Verizon keeps getting the Nexus in the future. Love this phone.

Hmm, so can you be more specific.

1) Was your phone awake before tapping the receiver?
2) Had GW been opened at all since your last full phone reboot?
3) If not awake, what happened when you tapped the register? (Ex: lock screen>GW Pin Screen)?

I believe it is the actual google wallet. Because of big red, we are unable to access through the market place.

Google Wallet isn't available through the market for any device other than the Galaxy S on Sprint. The GSM version also doesn't have access to Google Wallet. So contrary to the constant cry that Verizon is blocking Google Wallet, that simply isn't factual. Google is blocking Google Wallet.

I went ahead and ordered a citi bank card. There is some sort of points reward program and if I use GW and buy $300 in the next few months I get bonus points. In the mean time I'll just move some dollars to my Google acct.

You only have to wake your phone. Then tap the pay pass terminal...it will open google wallet to the pin....put your pin in and then place against the terminal again and bam your done. I like to open the app myself...but to each their own.

What do they mean by it can damage the nfc aspect of the phone?

It's just installing an .apk -- something that is required to run Wallet on the Galaxy Nexus at this time. Just make sure the source is trustworthy.

When Google releases an update for Google Wallet, will we get the option to download right to our phone if we have it installed? Or will we all have to look for the .apk somewhere on the internet and then uninstall the old and install the new or will it update right over it? I'm new to this.

I think Google Wallet is a cool idea, but ultimately just another reason for people to try and steal your cell phone.

Its pin protected and my phone is pin protected. Its got more protection than my wallet. If someone wants to steal your phone their going to steal it regardless.
