Used it a couple of days ago at bestbuy. Wake the phone up.. I have a case and the phone hadn't even touched the device and it picked it up. Pin pad came up immediately, entered pin, waived over the paypass again, done. As I signed, I could hear whispers from people in line. Haha, I love this thing!. Using it again tonight

Its pin protected and my phone is pin protected. Its got more protection than my wallet. If someone wants to steal your phone their going to steal it regardless.

...a few minutes later in the parking lot of Best Buy...Man clubbed over the head. Wallet and watch were still there. Only thing taken was his cell phone.

Crooks are stupid...to them it just looks like a magical money box.

What do they mean by it can damage the nfc aspect of the phone?

Installing software will not damage the chip. Everyone with Wallet on a Galaxy Nexus had to install the apk and there have been no reports of any damaged NFCs.

Others mentioned you have to load funds but i have a citi mastercard and i registered it and it gave me a balance of like almost $5,000

I just installed it. Got my free $10 too! If your looking to download it just type googlewallet.apk in Google search.

Haha.. No worries. My avatar has my back:)

I'm slightly interested in Google Wallet for non-NFC related things, actually. I'm curious, I've seen it implied that Google Wallet basically lets you create a virtual prepaid card. Does it give you a card number so you could, say, load the card up, then punch it in on an online shopping site and use it that way? Or is it restricted to only being used via NFC? Can you create more than one card?

You don't get a card number.. If you use it online and the site has google checkout, you just sign in using your google account and you're good to go.

I believe the user the user id on the prepaid card is a credit card number and can be used as credit card number to purchase other things. Someone can try it out and let us all know.

Just loaded the apk and got my free $10. Will try it at Duane reed tomorrow. Looks cool. I still don't know if I would actually go ahead and link my citibank cc to it. Just a bit worried about what could happen.

Used it twice in the last 2 days at rite aid. I just put in the pin while I'm standing in line, wait until they tell me the total, and tap the phone on the pay pass thingy. The receipt prints out instantly and everyone looks at you crazy. Its worth it just for the entertainment.

You can view the credit card number. But I've not seen a way of generating or displaying a CVC code. Most on-line retailers require this CVC code to complete purchases.
Also for that matter, I've not seen a way of using the pre-paid card for online purchases from places that do accept Google Wallet / Google checkout (for example: the Android Marketplace).

Probably your available credit limit on your citi mastercard

Ahh never mind I figured it out, it actual becomes like your are online viewing your credit card balance which is what that was. I do have to add funds to the default card which has the $10 added free from the app.

just bought a combo from McDonald's!
