Having problems after switching Motorola Droid Maxx from Verizon to AT&T

I just switched my Motorola Droid Maxx from Verizon to AT&T and I now have an "H" where "4G" should be, only 1 to 2 bars of service and MMS messages don't work. When I power the phone on it also tells me the sim card is from an unknown source. I already verified APN is correct. Any idea how to fix my problem? Possibly an unlocking issue? AT&T reps seem confused.

The Droid Maxx is unlocked, so it can't be that. (There was once a special Droid Maxx employee edition, which I believe may have been sim locked, but unless you have one that looks like this: http://www.droid-life.com/2013/07/2...ultra-is-indeed-a-verizon-employee-exclusive/ , your phone should already be unlocked.)

Do you have settings / more... / Mobile networks / preferred network type set to "LTE/GSM/UMTS"? If not, see if that helps.

More likely than not, you are not going to get LTE on AT&T - the Maxx is designed to use bands 13 and 4, and I know that AT&T doesn't use band 13, and I think that their band 4 is different from what Verizon and T-Mobile uses. So, seeing "H" means that you have a 3G connection. (You may be able to get HSPA+, which AT&T calls 4G as well, but it's not LTE.)

Unfortunately, I can't help much beyond this, as I've never tried my Maxx on AT&T, but I have used it on a European SIM, and it worked just fine.
