So I know there are issues with people using Windows 7 64-bit. I decided to buy a new computer, and went way overkill for myself on this one. Since its New and has a core i7, it naturally came with 64-bit windows. Well, I didn't even attempt to install the Samsung drivers, what I did was use a trick I used back in the day when people had troubles with drivers on the Hero.
Go here and download the 2.45 installer for 64-bit windows.
During the setup process you will get to a point where you need to select the type of device. Select Samsung, and voila! everything works perfectly. adb recognizes the phone on first try. I installed the SDK first, just in case you want to go that route.
