Hello!

I have the following question with regard to Android TV Box. I have a DVI socket in my display and Android TV Box has an HDMI socket. I connected them together with a DVI to HDMI cable. The screen has no speakers therefore there is no sound. I noticed there is an AV socket in Andy as well. I'd like to connect external speakers to the box. Any possible solutions? Thanks.

If there is no headphone socket (on the front of the box?) then you could use the optical audio output. In either case you will need either powered speakers or a separate amp (hi-fi or maybe a radio with an aux input) and also an optical to analogue audio adaptor if going that route.

I can’t see anywhere to plug in speakers. Perhaps a Bluetooth speaker may work?

It looks like the AV socket could be a standard 3.5mm audio out plug, so any sound bar or other powered speaker system should work. Would be best to check the manual to be sure. Personally, I wouldn't bother with the optical out option. Even if the speaker system had an optical input, I don't think it's worth the hassle of finding an optical cable. Not to mention the cables are more expensive. The only time I would recommend it is if there is electrical noise interfering with the standard 3.5mm/RCA connection (since the fiber optic cable isolates the audio signal), or if you just already have an optical cable you want to use.

Optical cables are readily available and not that expensive.

Note, that the AV port is *not* a headphone output but could possibly be used with an appropriate adapter cable to split out the Red and White RCA Right/Left audio leaving the Yellow composite video dangling. But I have seen comments that the Android TV box can be used to output to either HDMI or to AV but not both.

But another option would be to use an HDMI to HDMI+Audio splitter to give you an analogue audio feed to use alongside the HDMI video feed. Such as this one
