HELP! application Launcher (process com.android.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly

This error has happened twice now, and the first time, I had to do a factory reset, which lost all my data and settings.

The first time, it happened when moving apps from the phone to the SD card. This time, it happened when I connected to my PC and turned on USB mass storage.

Is there a way to get rid of the error without having to lose all my data again?

you can try switching to a different launcher like launcher pro or adw.launcher. you can also try to delete data from the launcher app and see if that helps

Okay, did that, but still getting the error.

Did you try restarting after u cleared out the data? Are you running stock ROM? are you rooted?

Stock ROM, not rooted. I restarted, didn't help. Tried removing the battery, didn't help.

Ended up doing a hard restore. Do you think this could be an issue with my SD card, since both times it's happened, that was being accessed?

hmm. what was the last thing you did? Does it happen from the start or does it happen when you do something specific?

try this. shutdown your phone, remove you SD card and boot it up. I have a feeling that your SD card is causing this

I got back up and running after a hard restore, so now I get to put everything back how it was once again. I installed Launcher Pro, so hopefully this will prevent the problem in the future.

Ya this guy asked me the same when I went to the grocery store he saw my phone and I happen to have the same phone and it wouldn't even let my do anything he had just got the phone lol so I helped him out I did the same thing by just taken his sdcard out and did a hard factory reset and it worked I have a launcher called zeam its really good and dose everything without to much stuff dose the basics and has great features never had a problem check it out some time if you dont want a laggy launcher I had tons of it with launch pro I dont know why but I think it was because of the standerd droid x theme you get to use your own with zeam

I had the same problem when I first got my Optimus S too, I ended up doing a factory reset a couple times and was really close to taking it back to Radioshack for a replacement. The last time I reset it the first thing I did was install Launcher Pro and Launcher Switcher. I went about installing the apps that I had before and left the stock launcher running while I did so, and as soon as I started moving some of the apps to SD in the "Manage Applications" menu the launcher crashed as expected just as you described.

This was almost two weeks ago and I've been using Launcher Pro ever since, a few days ago I was curious to see if the launcher was still nuked. I re-launched it with Launcher Switcher and it works just fine now. I have no idea how it fixed itself but I have rebooted quite a few times since then. I always killed the default launcher process manually since I had Launcher Pro launch as my main launcher.

Your guess is as good as mine as to how it fixed itself, but my advice is to install a secondary launcher like Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher along with one of the many "Home Switcher" apps (Launcher Switcher just happened to be what I saw first in AppBrain). There must be a bug in the home launcher that does not like it when you move apps to the SD card.

Can you open the market? If so download another launcher. When it opens it should give you the option of the stock launcher.

Also try going to settings>applications and find your launch and clear data. Perhaps a simple reboot will help as well. Good luck

I bought 2 JXD 5200 Android Games, I was trying to download more games for my kids. One all of the game names are in Chinese, but the games loaded in English. The real problem is the Launcher Error Message. I have tried the Clear Data that was suggested. I don't know how to pull the batter or SD card and I can't get it to connect to my computer to try to change the Launcher as suggested. Someone Please Help!!! My son is very upset!!!
