Help !! Galaxy S3 Freezing every few minutes. unresponsive.

This is getting very frustrating now. I have been getting these ever since the firmware was updated to I9300XXELLA. I have tried the following
- Factory restore twice
- Formatted the external SDcard
- Removed the external SDcard
- Uninstalled all apps and restores them 1 at a time
- Uninstalled the samsung apps updates

It had slowed down to happening once a day but now it is happeneing everytime I pick up the phone. There is still no I9300XXEMB1 on O2 in the UK according to Kies and OTA. Is there anything else I can try apart from waiting for an update that may never come. I'm almost ready to throw the phone through a window.

Thanks

I am trying to be patient, but I seriously want to throw this piece of junk out the window. It is nearly unusable. Yesterday it froze with my alarm going off. That was about the end.

Still waiting for OTA or Kies update of this new firmware. Don't know why I haven't gotten it. German phone, purchased unbranded, unlocked, "international" version. Still no update for 2 weeks.

Phone not rooted. Totally stock.

This better come soon...

I know the feeling exactly. I felt like jumping on my phone when it was freezing. I don't know when you're getting the update. They're always random.

im having the exact same problem! this is so annoying, sometimes it can freeze 5 times in a one hour and sometimes it wont freeze for a whole day.
did somebody here notice this problem on ice scream os? from reading here it seems like jelly been problem. maybe we just need to downgrade to ice scream sandwich and thats it, and wait for official 4.2.2 that will come soon.
oh, and did somebody notice this problem on non offical rom? again, its seems like problem of only offical roms, whether its official in UK Germany or Israel. same annoying problem!

Hi, here in Brazil I'm having the same issue.

First, I was using the InsertCoin 4.5 ROM from baadnws, got it on XDA.
So, the phone was freezing. Like tricia said, always random.
So, I tried to go to another ROM, the SuperNexus.

Nothing, it kept freezing... and this time, on the first screen, when we used to configure the phone for the "first time" use.
So, I download the triangule away and went back to stock firmware. Here it was I9300UBBLG2 4.0.4 ICS.
So, it kept freezing, even with ICS.
I did the OTA update and it went to I9300UBEMA1 4.1.2 JB
It kept freezing, sometimes a lot of times per day... sometimes just one time per day.... ALWAYS random... so, I never knew and I don't know yet what is the reason... because it is always random.
I unrooted, now running planning stock rom.

Keeps freezing.

I'm thinking about sending back to Samsung... so they can send me another phone or do the repair...
But, like I said, it's always random... imagine if I send there and never happen... then I will be pist.

So, another user with the same problem of yours.

Ok i have the latest update and as I said above it gave me the freezing problem.

I uninstalled/disabled virtually all samsung bloatware and since then the phone runs absolutely fine!!!!

It's been three days now and not one freeze or issue.

Hope this helps someone

My parnter is doing exactly the same, we lost all the pictures of our baby boy as the phone crashed and factory restored itself.
We are pretty annoyed as three are saying it has been water damaged but it has never been near water and constantly in a protective leather case due to his job. The phone keeps freezing and rejecting calls and texts while frozen. Even a factory restore didn't do the job the phone is around 6/7 months old.
Do you think if i kept complaining to three/samsung they would sort it out as we need the phone for my partners work?

Send it to Samsung to fix it. If they say its water damaged, which is what they normally try to say to get out of fixing it, you will probably have to get an independant report to say it isnt water damaged, then hit them with it. Im at the end of my tether with Samsung at the moment. Theyve had my phone for 2 weeks (for the third time!!!) and they still cant figure out how to sort these freezing problems out!

Does any of you have the external SD card problem? I'm asking because I took it out and all freezing stopped.

First, S3 was saing that the SD card is damaged and needs to be formatted. This went on for like a week or so, then it did not recognize it anymore. I formatted it on S3, on my computer... Nothing. Then I read that this may be the problem (in connection with the Android update), and tried it. Voila, No more freezing and auto restarts.

From what ive been reading online theres a problem with the main boards dying after 7 months! I've wrote down complaints other people are having with the phone and that will go towards my water damage status!

Mine is nothing to do with the SD card. I took my SD card out totally, and it was still freezing. I tried clearing the system cache, that didn't work, I've done umpteen factory resets, they didn't work, Samsung have flashed the software twice, that didn't work, and they are still clueless as to what's causing it, and in fact, that's all they seem to do to try and "repair" it. Absolutely useless.

Hi everyone from experience try nothing. This is a software problem. Wait a bit for the update that I received on my mobile last week and install that. It will sort everything. My phone is even faster now too.

Hi everyone yesterday I got a notification on the software update widget showing there's a new update for the S3. I haven't downloaded it yet and probably will not since my phone has been behaving for the past month.

I don't think this is a major update anyway, otherwise we would have heard about it.

Anyone else got it? I live in Malta, factory unlocked S3 bought feom UK.

I finally got my phone back from Samsung yesterday, and its fixed, they replaced the motherboard !! Hurrah! No freezing, no rebooting, no lagging, no stuttering and no randomly turning itself off. I have my old phone back, and it actually seems a lot quicker than it was before the problems started.

I had an update on my phone after I re installed all my apps last night. Im not sure what it was for though
