Hi all,

Currently looking to upgrade from a SG5 to a Pixel XL and debating between 32gb and 128gb versions.
I know all pictures and videos are going to the cloud, so that takes frees up a good amount of storage.

On my SG5 currently :
17gb videos
6.9gb images
4.4gb downloaded apps (I moved everything I can to the card)
I have zero music, as I use Spotify/Soundcloud exclusively for music

Total used (without OS itself) : 28.4gb

15gb/16gb used on internal storage
24gb/32gb used on SD card

Total free space : 9gb

according to this article you start with 24gb

What do you recommend?
Thanks.

Edit : I don't play games either.

Sounds like in your situation especially if you are going to keep the phone for sometime or you plan on adding more apps to your collection you may be cutting it close. Really wish this was offered in 64g as well.

Well I got the 32GB version as I don't listen to music watch movies or even play games on my phone. The 128 is popular because 32 just isn't enough for a lot of folks. So if you can get by with 32, then its a no brainer. Also google still has plenty 32's available. I ordered on 11/28 and its already shipped an will arrive 12/2 :)

yeah the answer is 128 the extra cost isn't too crazy (i.e. the cost to go from 32gb to 64gb on the pixel C) gives you piece of mind. And yes 64 would be the sweet spot for me too but when in doubt over shoot it.

I got the 32GB XL originally. Sold it and now have the 128GB regular Pixel. I would highly recommend the 128GB of either. I wish I would have originally.

get the 128. sounds like you need the storage.

i have only use for 32gb on my nexus but yet i got the 64 gb and that extra storage is helpful sometime

IMO - If you can afford the 128 and are willing to wait - do so - better to have more than you need than less as far as storage.
If the $$s and waiting are an issue - get the 32 - they appear to be much more readily available.

64 GB Pixel - there isn't one - accept the fact and move on down the road Pixel People.

bearing in mind that it's good to leave ~10% free storage space and that the Android OS takes about 8GB I ended up going for the 128GB because with apps, offline maps, music, and photos (I like to keep local copies for those offline times) I'd otherwise max things out within six months. Fine if I change phones every six months, but I'll probably have this for 1-2 years.

If you're consistently keeping an eye on storage you shouldnt have a problem. Just don't keep too many photos or videos on your phone. And only download the necessary apps.

You can ignore the photo/video storage because you get free unlimited storage in original quality with the pixel, so assuming those are videos you shot with the phone (and not movies you put on your phone) you could EASILY do with the 32GB.

I also have had my Pixel a with less than 500MB of free space on it, and did not notice any performance decrease whatsoever before freeing up space, but I would not recommend keeping it that low because certain things need space to update themselves.

Past performance IS indicative of future results.

In the past, I've never used more than 26 out of 29gb available . While that may seem to be cutting it close, for me it was okay because I never had to clear out any of my pictures or videos, which I always could have if I needed to.

128GB is $100 less now. I bought my VZW Pixel 128 for $299 3 weeks ago (business account). I saw that it's down to $199 this week. I called and requested the $100 credit.

I have the 128 gb model. I am using 28.65 gb of that space. As time goes on, more of that space will be used for larger Daydream VR apps and other things, it never hurts to have more space than you need because there is no SD card

I really wish they had a 64GB version too. To me that's a decent amount of space. Additionally and perhaps more importantly I'm very disappointed they followed the Apple pricing structure of charging far too much for additional storage. Flash memory does not cost that much. It's dumb.

I did go for the 32GB and I know it's going to be a bit problematic, but if I offload the photos and videos regularly I think I'll be just fine. TBH I use my current SD card mainly for A) TiBU backups of my apps and app data + a full Nandroid backup and B) Movies and Shows I want to watch. On my main 32GB internal storage I usually have about 9GB free so I think I'll be fine. Will plan to have video media on my flash drive which I can watch via OTG.

Don't buy either. Save a chunk of change, and get a Nexus 6P. It's just as good, at a lot lower price.:p

It's just as good? It's not lol; it's similar in some ways, but very different and it's very much a 2015 device while the Pixel is the arguably the best device available.
