Help Me Convince My Mother to Get a Nexus 10 Instead of an Ipad

Well let's put this in perspective. My mom lives with me so if she gets a Nexus 10 then I have a Nexus 10 in the house to play with.

Also, I am trying to persuade my sister to get an iPhone 5, she has a 4 year old blackberry right now and is not very tech savvy herself so I though an iPhone would be a good choice for her especially since her boyfriend and 2 kids have iPhones and they (not me) can help her with it.

I don't care what someone else has or wants as long as it doesn't affect me. Once it affects me, then I care. My mom's iPad will be something I have to set-up, teach her how to use and troubleshoot when needed. And I will probably be buying it for her along with my sister for mother's day so it will be my money, too!

Seriously, I am going to be buying it for her and not bragging about it, but rather using it. I have already stated in this thread twice now that I am going with the iPad because of the point made about the apps. But if it weren't for the apps, I would try to convince her of the advantages of the Nexus 10.

The apps and the fact that its idiot-proof are a valid arguments in favor of the iPad for a 75 year old.

I don't agree. There are lots of people who would like to WiFi tether their computers to their phones without paying extra. I can't tell you how happy I have made friends of mine by showing them how to do it.

And I have friends who aren't geeks who use gmail and google calendar and chose android for that reason.

It's your stupid carries that have this restriction right now I'm using my Nexus 4 to tether my ipad at no special plans or costs its not Apples fault it's the carriers, gmail and G calendar is on iOS

You can WiFi tether for free with an Android phone in the US, which of course was my point. You can't do it with an iPhone.

As for google calendar, it is completely integrated with 4.1.1 google now feature and of course nothing like that exists with iOS.

Yes. I absolutely loathe it. The great AAPL nose dive brings me such happiness.

Why can't I change my default browser? Why can't I download flash player? It's like you never actually own an Apple product. There are so many limitations, it feels like a rental.

WTF? When did Apple nose dive? And that's really sad if that bought you happiness that a companies product you didn't like took a "nose dive" (they haven't) there is no flash on my Nexus 4 and I am very happy there isn't, default apps yes that is annoying. But seriously just because you think ios is horrible doesn't mean you have to be happy that Apple "fell" and there are so many people that like iOS, anyway I am done with this thread it's just gonna turn into another war.

This is why I don't want to respond to the other guy anymore now I love android as much as the next guy( on this forum) but the Anti-Apple bais really ticks me off, if you are not happy with a particular OS move from it and don't look back its a hard concept from some.

First, and most importantly, ger your mother what she wants.
-Her skills on the iPhone will transfer well.
-There are several synergies that make having an iPhone and an iPad really nice. eg contacts/calendars/email automagically available on either device.
-She wants it.
-Your selfish desire to get an Android for her so you can use it is...

OK, I didn't give enough details. She has unlimited data on VZW and she can't WiFi tether FOR FREE on VZW using her iPhone, whereas with an android, she could.

-iPhone plus unlimited data on VZW means no free tethering.
