I wonder if this lack of control over individual app updates is seen on phones from Google and Oneplus?

Generally Google has split up most of it's stuff into Google play services and apps so that they can push updates thru play store and not wait for useless carriers to approve and go thru that process. Bugs happen in all the phones, there are different bugs on OnePlus and Pixel sometimes that doesn't get addressed in months. Samsung or any other phone maker isn't alone on this.


While this is unfortunate you could just use Google phone dialer. I know you don't like it and prefer Samsung dialer. But having missed call notification is important then just use Google dialer until Samsung fixes it (if ever )

It would be pretty sad if Samsung never fixes this. I've been using a Samsung phone since 2016 and never had this issue with their Phone app!

Yes, fingers crossed I suppose. I had been holding off updating to the newer version of Phone app in the Galaxy Store, but the April software update has forced it to update to an even newer version (which worryingly, still contains the bug). And as we know, there's no practical way to revert this update. I do wish Samsung would allow the ability to uninstall these individual app updates when it's updated via a "whole phone" software update.

It's been long time since I seen a update to phone app through galaxy store or play store , even the Samsung message app, possible they do it through software update.

You can send reports to Samsung through the members app.

Same is happening to me. Version 12.1.10.30, Call version 12.1.2.42

I think that I'm having the same problem. A friend told me that my voicemail was full, which never happens. Apparently I'm not getting missed call or voicemail alerts so my voicemail was full and I "missed" some important calls. All software is up-to-date. Phone version 12.1.10.30

That sounds like a more serious problem, and different to what is described here.

If you carefully read the original post (and the post directly following it), you'll notice the following written:
"Wake the phone and get to the homescreen - you'll now see the missed call notification pop up at the top. If you put the phone back in standby, you'll also now notice the notification on AOD and the lockscreen"

"...navigating to the homescreen following a missed call appears to "trigger" the notification to display"

So unless you're never "waking" your phone up, it sounds like a different problem.

Anyway, thanks to all those who have responded so far. It sounds like everyone should be affected, but most haven't noticed it yet and/or aren't bothering to post about it. I think this also makes sense, as the vast majority of people "wake" their phone up frequently enough for this not to be a significant issue.

Probably what I'd like to see is someone who can't reproduce the issue as described. So far, I've not seen anyone say they can't reproduce it though.

Looks like this bug is fixed in the April security update. Just checked the phone app version after april update and it's .43 and I tested the scenario again, this time missed call notification showed up without having to unlock the phone once.

Thanks for the update. Looks like your phone app is now version 12.1.10.43 and you've noticed it's fixed. My current version is .41 (same as when I made the original post in this thread) and bug still exists. Hopefully I get an update to .43 or greater at some point, but I suspect I'll need to wait for the May security update.

So does everyone that uses this phone dialer app not plagued by spam calls since it doesn't offer that as the Google phone app does, and does it quite well in my opinion

There's no option for that in the Phone app.

So you don't see this at the bottom when hit 3 dots? Then you can go through Samsung members app
