[HELP] Really Slow HotSpot

I have a LG Optimus T through T-Mobile.
I use my phone as a HotSpot for my laptop.
I updated the phone to the newest version.

The HotSpot speed is really slow for some reason about 0.11 - 0.16mbps.
I noticed on my phone it stays on EDGE and doesnt change to 3G, could that be the problem?
Any ideas or suggestions how to get it faster?

Yes, of course. Edge is about 10 times slower (I think?). Set your phone to connect to 3g.

Do other phones have 3G in the same area the Optimus only gets Edge?

There is a wireless setting that says something like 'use 2g networks only'. Make sure that is not checked. I think it is under the 'Wireless and Network' -> 'Mobile Network' settings.
