HELP: S3 doesn't turn on, keeps flashing "Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300"

Hi guys,

I'm trying all of the above on my girlfriends handset, which she has dropped and broken the screen.

When i press the power button is keeps booting and flashing the "Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300" as stated in the topic. I've tried both a download and a factory reset boot. The reset boot just sits there then after a while then reverts back to the flashing "Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300". The download option starts the Kies software looking for the phone, but after around 5 minutes it pops up that the phone is unresponsive and to reboot the device, which i have done numerous times.

I'm really stuck on what to do now.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Did this booting problem start when the phone was dropped?
Although the screen is broken, you can apparently see it and the touch controls work?

Does the phone stay in Download (aka Odin) mode until you remove the battery or press the Power button for about ten seconds?

Which carrier/region/firmware?

Today I had the same problem...
Problem:
Before I restarted my S3 I was aware of OutofMemory i.e. I got only 370+ MB HardDisk Space. After pressing restart button my system doesn't booted. I used Power+HomeKey+VolumeUp Button... Andorid Image came and shown me different booting options. I selected first one restart, So how or luckly S3 re-booted. Then I realised immediately transferred all my picture and videos into my PC. After that I restart my S3 couple of times it works fine.
Root Cause: I think the problem lies with low memory space. so ensure that 1gb space should be empty, while restart or switch off the Phone.

Hope !!! this should fix permanently.

The Android OS doesn't like it when you have less than 1GB of internal memory, and with SD card prices so low there's no excuse for having less than that available. Pictures/videos/music are the main offenders, and they can all be stored on the SD card.

even i have the same problem please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

was looking threw the forums and came across this have you tried this ?

Finally, the solution! I made use of Samsung Kies. Here's what I did:

1. Install Samsung Kies in your computer if you don't have. (You may have to choose between Kies or Kies3. Kindly check Samsung website)
2. Connect your device to computer.
3. Turn on your device. As with our case, it will get stuck in the splash screen logo.
4. Press Volume Down + Home button + Power button. Hold it for some time until the ODIN screen is displayed. (The one with green Android character and it says "Downloading... Do not turn off the target!!")
5. Launch Samsung Kies.
6. Ignore if you see some prompts that say your device is unrecognized.
7. Go to Tool > Firmware upgrade and Initialisation
8. Enter your device's model name. (Ex: GT-I9300). Be aware of the uppercase letters.
9. Click OK.
10. Enter your S/N the click OK.
11. Then follow the succeeding instructions as it will now direct you to downloading your firmware.
12. Just wait until it's done and auto-upgrade with your device shall commence.
13. Then whoala! Welcome your device back!

This works for me. I have Galaxy S3.

Hope this helps!

Hi. Can somebody please help. My S3 is also flashing Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300. I just got up this morning and it was doing this. Phone hasn't been dropped or anything. It won't let me go into recovery mode by pressing home, power and volume up. Is there anything else I can do? I don't really understand all these terms 'bricking' and download mode although I am getting the green man if I press power, home and volume down. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am getting the green man if I press power, home and volume down.
That means that Download mode is working, which is a good thing.

If you read the post immediately above yours you'll see a suggestion about using the Kies software on your PC to try to reload the firmware. Please note that if you choose that method it'll wipe all of your data, except for what you may have stored on an SD card (if present).

There's a different method to reload the firmware that has a chance of leaving your data intact - we just need to know which firmware was on your phone (4.3? 4.1.2?) and which carrier (ex. Vodafone) and region (ex. Great Britain) are applicable.

We'll need to know the model number/carrier/region (if an International user).

It could be that the Power button is stuck, or that the actual Power switch is constantly stuck in the depressed state, causing the bootloop issue.

You probably need to reload the firmware. You can try using the Kies software or use a tool called Odin.

Here's a summary of how to do it using Kies:
- if you don't already have the Kies software installed on your PC, download it (just search Google - if your phone had the 4.3 firmware installed you'll need Kies v3) and install it. The first time it runs it'll update itself to the latest version so make sure you run it once before proceeding.
- put your phone in Download mode: with the phone completely off, press and hold the Volume Down and Home and Power buttons simultaneously, and release them all when you see the Samsung splash screen
- connect the phone to your PC with the USB cable that came with the phone
-- if you've never had the phone connected to your Windows-based computer before, you'll see messages about installing drivers, etc - just wait until this is done (may take 5 or 10 minutes) [I don't know what happens if you have a Mac - it probably just works]
- in the Kies software, select the second item in the Tools menu and just follow the prompts to enter the model number (in CAPS) and IMEI/Serial Number (both found under the battery - it's ok to remove the battery at this point)
- the Kies software should start downloading the correct firmware for your phone from the Internet; once that's done (depending on your Internet connection speed) it'll begin downloading that to the phone (this probably takes 10 minutes or so)

If that doesn't work then you'll need to use Odin (just Google it) and you'll need the firmware for your phone, which can be found here

Well, since yesterday my Galaxy S3 can't turn on, just keeps flashing S3's logo. I have read a lot of threads here in this forum, but I could not conclude anything. The phone doesn't respond, if I press for long time power+home button, nothing happens. If I take the battery off and try to turn it on again, nothing happens. I am really desperated and I need help please!!!!!!!

What happens if you connect the charger - do you see a static battery graphic, followed by a different graphic showing the battery level and charging activity?
