Help with cm6 installation

Hey all, im brand new to android and got an evo 4g a few days and and i just successfully rooted with unrevoked3. But i wanted to cyanogen mod 6 on it also but every time I load it throught the clock loader thing it aborts installation. Any ideas? i dont want my apps to be deleted for nothing, please help.

CM6 requires NAND to be unlocked. unrevoked 3 does not do this. If you have 2.2 on your phone you will need to follow the instructions on this thread:

After you do part 2 you will need to flash 0.76 eng bootloader to install CM6.

Get ENG bootloader extended fastboot commands back after Unrevoked forever! - xda-developers

That's only if he did unrevoked forever. If he did unrevoked 3 the sticky should work.

okay im trying to go back to 2.1 so i can do this right? If i wipe my phone completely then install the pc36 thing will i be back on 2.1? im already trying it.

If you're at 2.1 then you probably want to try simple root to get root again. I'm assuming you rolled back to 2.1 from an unrevoked 2.2 right?

Actually you need ENG-HBoot to load CM6 And thats what UnrEVOked doesnt do...

okay I downloaded simple root overnight and I ran it but now I dont have recovery? I installed it with simpleroot

okay have recovery and I installed cm6 now im rebooting, I hope this works...
