Help with root after 11/8 Update

I guess I'm just going to install the Virtuous ROM that already has root & the 11/8 update. We'll see how it goes!

I'm dumb and installed the update thinking I could re-root with Unrevoked afterward. Unrevoked of course doesn't work. I've tried the z4root method and while it says I'm rooted, it doesn't let me run anything as a superuser. (Wireless Tether, Busybox, Rom Manager) I'm about to give up and just wait for Unrevoked to catch up.

Update: I tried z4root one more time and now I'm apparently rooted and have superuser access. Anytime I try to reboot in to recovery to install a new ROM I get the red triangle and exclamation point though. Any ideas?

for you guys who are able to achieve root through z4, were you rooted previously before the update?

If you were already rooted, and installed it, all you had to do was re-flash Clockwork and SU since you were s-off. Make sure that you're still s-off, and re-flash clockwork (easy enough to find).

Successfully updated the Nov OTA using the instruction @ Installing OTA to Rooted Android to my DInc. I had been getting the OTA notice for a couple days and I knew it was time to sink or swim.

Because I had only rooted using Unrevoked3 and had not flashed any custom ROMS nor gotten rid of any bloat-ware, I was able to start at Step # 3.

Had a few initial problems because I loaded the update.zip to the phone memory, then named it update.zip but only needed to rename it to update (as it was already a zip file). Both times the reboot didn't work and it clearly said it couldn't find update.zip. Once I got it right, the whole process worked EXACTLY as described on the instructions.

z4root has worked for me and I used rom manager to flash clockwork recovery.. Will keep updated to see if I run into any problems but it looks like im back in business :)

WELL. it seems to have worked:

I have an app with a pirate Android and was able to install & use Wireless Tether & ShootMe, I also did a reboot into Recovery and now see Clockwork. (yay!)

I'm not sure if I want to do custom ROMs just yet...though it would be nice to see how the OS looks without Sense. Thing is, I'm taking one look at Titanium and I don't even know what to back up, haha. Apps I'm sure, yes, but what else?

edit: I also have AdFree as well, doing a test with it (Angry Birds) so far no ads!

z4 got me back to root after the update. I had previously rooted using unrevoked, but did not use unrevoked forever.

Here's the steps I used to get root back and my phone back to before the update:
1. booted to HBoot, select factory reset
2. installed z4 from this link:
z4root 1 1 0 apk
3. It took running z4 twice for it to work
4. Installed ROM Manager
5. Flashed Clockword Recovery
6. Since I have a newer Incredible which just displays black bars on the side when booting to clockwork mod recovery, Had to copy PB31IMG.zip (just google it) to the root of my SD, boot to hboot and it updated. Clockwork mod boots fine after this
6. Restored my nandroid backup using ROM Manager

Hope this is helpful, I looked for hours for a solution to this!
