it's not the program. it's user error if it's not working. go to xda if your having troubles and look at the posts over there. unrEVOked has their own thread for this there. you can prob get trouble shooting tips ( atleast more then here ) over there to help you along.

Yes I am. Works really well. I got my download from the link above. My directions changed a little bit though. Follow these here.

1. Download the unrevolved.zip file from the XDA forums.
2.Rename unrevolved.zip to update.zip (this isn't absolutely necessary but makes it easier)
3. Place the new file in the root folder of your sd card on the phone
4. Reboot the phone into HBOOTby holding Vol- and Power
5. Scroll down to "RECOVERY" and press the power button.
6. When the ClockworkMod Recover appears scroll to and select "wipe data/factory reset" (note: this will wipe all your user data) (Note: when you're in clockworkmod you can use the optical trackpad and MUST use it's button to select items. Hitting the Power button goes back)
7. Once that's complete, scroll to and select "wipe cache partition"
8. Once complete, scroll to and select "apply sdcard:update.zip" (only if you renamed it to update.zip, otherwise scroll to and select "install zip from sdcard" and scroll to/select unrevolved.zip
9. Once that applies select "reboot system now"
10. Let the phone start up completely and add this file to the sdcard:
11. Reboot into the ClockworkMod Recovery with instructions 4 & 5.
12. Scroll to "install zip from sdcard" and scroll to app.zip to install the google apps.
13. Reboot device. This will prompt the google startup where it asks for account information.

I have to credit Larsrya8 over at the XDA forums for posting some information. I take no credit for any of these steps. This is what worked for me after reading the forum over there.

Edit: removed the links, they can be found on another forum.

Are these instructions on how to ROOT the Droid Incredible?

Thanks.

No these instructions are how to load a custom ROM on the DInc.

There is a good write-up in the forums on how to root it. You have to have root before you can do this.

The custom ROM that should have been associated with the link you took outta there is not good. It's WAY to stripped down. I can't get GMail to work (it keeps force closing) and The screen stays on until I hit the lock button...

Does anyone know whether I will have to re-root the phone if I were to put the stock ROM back on the phone?

so i'm not supposed to already have SU, install the driver, plug my phone in and run the program like a monkey? i think saying its user error is a little ignorant. everytime i run the effing program it stops responding after the HBOOT reboot.. It runs Preboot steps then reboots from HBOOT then says either waiting for system to settle, waiting for SU privileges or Waiting for reboot.. I run as admin, choose charge only, don't have htc sync installed.. Nothing.. I've rooted motodroids, eris and had success with my Sandisk 16gb card installing SU access. I guess it could be my PC, i'll have to try another machine and see if that works. but i'm pretty sure i can launch an exe file.. So user error is out of the question.....

Frozen On htc Incredible Screen after install

I followed these steps and after it installed, I rebooted and it just stays at the white htc incredible welcome screen. What can I do to get back to normal? Why didn't this work for me? Unfortunately, I didn't do a backup in nandroid before installing. I used the updated unrevolved file. I was rooted and ran the reflash before doing this. Any suggestions?

if you didn't nandroid before you flashed the only thing you can do is restore this nandroid i made of stock 2.1 rooted. you have to mount usb storage which is under partitions menu in recovery. that will mount your phone as a disk drive like it would if you were booted up normally. then you put this 2.1 nandroid file inside clockwork/backup. then once that's put inside the backup folder inside of clockwork, just go to main menu of recovery screen. select nandroid then select restore then select stock 2.1 and you should be back to normal. THIS SHOULD TEACH YOU ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!!!!!!!! Stock 2.1 Rooted | incredible stuff…

Did you use the nandroid backup I linked for you? Let me know how it worked out for you

I didn't use the nandroid backup. But I'm also not the one who requested it. If you want me to try it out and make sure it works, I will.
