Horrible lag

wow, a couple of questions for you Aaron Coleman.....

First, did you ever do a factory reset to dump the memory, or find out what app(s) is locking your MoPho up, causing it to become unresponsive?

Second, is it painfull being you?

I'm impressed with the level of patience and professionalism here. Problems or not (and this is a real issue, I have it as well), the OP is a ****** and everyone here has still tried to be helpful.

I had this issue yesterday, it usually happens if you have another launcher installed, dont know why. I was using gingerbread launcher and after a few hours the app drawer wouldnt even scroll. so I uninstalled it and everything seems to be fine. I do have issues with wiif acting up and not wanting to connect until I manually go in to settings and choose wifi and networks and it starts connecting. Sometimes that doesn't even work. Also I have issues with transferring large files over wifi.

Thanks you too. Bet you won't get banned though lmfao.

Seriously dude, I definitely would've given up after the second one. At least we have 3 really good choices on Sprint now.

Agreed. Did u get a chance to look at the E4GT yet?

Here's to bein single, seein double, and sleepin triple!

I installed SPB 3d Shell and Agile Lite. I get close to a full second lag on some apps. I am a Pre- convert, so I actually know how to live with lags very well. They teach one how to be patient in life... Plus, that SPB shell is so cool looking that I have no problem if it makes the phone slower.

My Photon runs great with no lag ... until ...

I bought the car dock and installed Car Dock Ultra. With that app I get really horrible lags. Sometimes ~1 minute. At first I thought the screen presses weren't registering. But eventually I waited and sure enough, the app ran. The lag carries over to secondary apps too. So there is a lag to run voice search, which itself runs just fine, but then another big lag to start the dialer. When I go off the car dock, everything runs great. And sometimes Car Dock Ultra runs great with no lag.

As an experiment I am trying another car dock app, and it seems that I have no lag with this one. But I haven't run with it long enough to make any real claims on that front.

So what is happening?? A common theme I am reading in this list is alternative home screen apps. Some seem to have problems. Some don't. It also seems that some do in certain combinations. I am not sure the home screen apps themselves are the real culprit. They may be, or they may be just poking some obscure bug on the photon. But I think it would be useful to narrow it down to combinations of software that do cause this. If people seeing the lag can remove any alternate home screens, do the lags disappear? Some people also mentioned Perfect Task Switcher (which I run and removing it didn't help) so it would be useful to consider alternate task managers too.

My initial thought was that this was somehow related to the popup menus that let you select which application to run for some actions. (When you go to a URL it lets you choose a browser or when you long press you can choose a search app.) I was wondering if the OS was somehow waiting for me to select an app, but the alternate home screen was preventing me from seeing the popup. But I haven't been able to find much solid evidence for that so it is just a suspicion at this point. Once while waiting on a lag, I pulled the phone off the car dock, the car dock app ended and I saw a waiting popup. But I haven't been able to repeat that. I know that you can select a default so it will stop asking you, but there are many such popups and I may not have selected defaults for all of them (and some I specifically don't want a default for).

Another observation I had was that lags were usually worse after a reboot. But once I had experienced the lags and waited through them, they usually went away. There's got to be a clue in that somewhere, but I haven't made sense of it yet.

Just my $.02 of observation...

Sometimes people can't explain their issue very well, and thinking we should be able to read exactly what he is referring to without all the details. It could very well be an app that is causing the issue. But for him to lose his temper when someone is trying to help him is just plain rude. He can go to a store and have Sprint look at it as well and I hope if he does, he has a better attitude.
