Coloured lines on screen

My son dropped his galaxy 3 Tab on a hard wood floor. Now the bottom 3rd of the screen shows coloured lines and a black block. The touch screen seems to be working ok but obviously you cant see anything at the bottom of the screen other than the lines.

Is there any way to fix this?

It sounds like the display is bad. You can try to get it replaced but cost wise you may be cheaper buying a new one.

Current devices - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4, Surface Pro 3 Core I5, and Nexus 9

Past Devices - Phones: Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2, HTC Incredible, HTC EVO 4G, HTC EVO, HTC Hero, Motorola Photon.

Tablets: Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 7 (2012), Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 Windows 8.1, Dell Venue 8, Galaxy Tab Pro, Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Note 8, Kindle Fire HD 8.4, Kindle Fire HD 7, Kindle Fire, iPad 2, iPad 1, Nook HD, Nook.

Re: Coloured lines on screen

Depending what screen size you have and what model:
- Tab 3 7.0 and 10.1, touchscreen is not glued to LCD, easy to replace if you know how. LCD is from $20 to $45, depending on LCD size. Touchscreen is not expensive, around $12 to $20, depending on screen size.
- Tab 3 8.0, touchscreen and LCD are glued with LOCA (Liquid optically clear adhesive), you have to replace the whole LCD assembly. Separating the touchscreen from LCD is difficult, you may end up of damaging both touchscreen and LCD. Full LCD assembly is around $70.

But don't confuse distorted images due to loose LCD cable and cracked LCD screen: part of the LCD is normal except cracked areas.
