Wifi 802.1x EAP not working

Hi guys,

I have a New Nexus 6P and everything works great, especially because my previous phone was a Samsung Gio, but connecting to a business wifi hotspot doesn't work.
At my school we have a network called 'BYOD' with 802.1x security with the same credentials as the computers. My nexus can find it, but it keeps saying 'connecting...', without actually ending up connected. I went to the IT staff and entered the correct security things, which was already good. I tried today to connect using a few apps with extended setting, but it doesn't help.

What do you guys think/recommend? Contact Google/Huawai , or something else?

Thanks in advance,

Arend-Jan

The only way to fix this is to have your corporate IT admin update their RADIUS software.

There's nothing you can do on your end.

Basically, the issue is that your shiny new Android 6.0 negotiates TLS 1.2 with the RADIUS server, but due to a bug in many RADIUS servers (since many of them use the same underlying libraries), they generate incorrect session keys when negotiating a TLS 1.2 connection.

You can read all about the fun and games over at code.google.com. Bug # 188867 (sorry, I can't post the link directly).

Side note: this also affects Winders 10 latest November update as well, so this is about to get a whole lot worse as Windows 10 machines update to the latest version.

Hi Turbocycle,

Thank you for your reply. I now also(after some research) that is the issue. Now the only issue is the IT admin.
I went to him and asked it with some proof of the bug, but the only response was "Won't happen."......
Luckily I have an appointment very soon with the direction about a website, so I am going to force them to upgrade/update their servers.

Groetjes,

Arend-Jan
