Android Central Question

My phone updated the Android Messages app last night and now I can't change/assign individual contacts different colors. This is especially annoying in group chats where multiple people are the same color. Am I missing something? The color palette icon is no longer there.

Welcome to Android Central! On mine, if I open the group text, then tap Menu>People & Options, I see the palette icon. Is that the menu you're looking at?

I'm guessing you haven't updated yet. It happens with the update. I updated just now, and it immediately did it. The color palette is no longer there.

Ok, I just got the latest update (with Dark Mode), and yes, now I see that the option to change the icon color has disappeared. All I can suggest is to send feedback to Google about it.

This is so utterly annoying. I'm an artist and I NEED to see my contacts in the colors I've chosen. What do they expect me to do, read the name?? (scoffs) I look for colors and shapes first, then if I have to associate letters, I will. But geez laweeze, how can they not keep the color pallette?

I would expect *more* colors in an update, wouldn't you? Adding pastels is a great addition to the current color picks. (More yellows and greens would be great IMO).

Color pallette! Color pallette! (walking around the kitchen with sign held high)

This is so annoying. I have a group text with 8 people in it and 4 of them are the exact same color of orange. How does it assign colors? So dumb.
