How do I copy a zip file to an sd card

I have used image writer to wite the clock works recovery onto my sd card. Now I am trying to copy 1.0.1 zip file to my sd card and it will not allow it. It says that it wants to format my card. If I format the I lose my recovery mod. As though its not obvious. I am new to this forum and the nook color.

When you write an image to the card it usually only formats about as much as it needs for the image. Try using EaseUs Partition Manager (free) to expand the partition to recover the additional space.
