How do I get my S7 fingerprint scanner working?

my samsung s7 fingerprint won't work

I juts bought s7 yesterday. So i want to add some fingerprints to my phone and its not working, it just stay at the tutorials. Is it because of i didn't add my sim card? Cause i didn't add it. I just want to add it tommorow.

Guys please help me

The phone wont recognize my fingerprint, when i try it other phone it did it but in my phone its not.

When you say it doesn't recognize your fingerprint, do you mean that when you try to have it learn your fingerprint when setting it up, it doesn't recognize it?

Weird.

Have you tried doing a factory reset? If not, give it a shot, although the chances might be slim of recovery.

You did mention that the one on your other phone worked. I'm beginning to suspect that the sensor on your unit may be defective and might need an RMA.

RMA is Return Merchandise Authorization.

Some of us use that term to describe the action of sending back a product in order to exchange it due to a defect.

If your S7's fingerprint sensor fails to detect your finger again after the reset, you might have to go through that process.

This going to sound stupid, but I did it myself (I'm a bit stupid). Have you took the clear, plastic cover off the phone? It actually covers the finger print sensor too, stopping it reading your print? I sat for 5mins fuming at my phone before I realised. Hopefully, you're not as stupid as me

Yeah have you taken the cover off the phone. We just made same mistake with my wife's. Plastic covers the scanner and it won't work.
