How do I move my contacts off my SIM ?

My contacts app isn't viewing my contacts properly since something happened to my phone the other day, so now most of the contacts don't give me the field for the "ringtone" plus other fields, so I can't customise. If I try and assign a ringtone through music player the only contacts I get are the ones that aren't on my SIM. It seems the contacts that are on my SIM are the ones I can't customise. Who knows how to get them off my SIM? Anyone????
