How do I stop my Gmail from constantly syncing on the MotoX Lollipop update?

AC Question

I have the opposite problem of many people on here - I miss being able to turn off my mail/apps from auto-syncing during the workday so I don't have emails always popping up on my screen and draining my battery. Can I turn off auto-syncing somewhere without a) using battery saver or b) turing off Gmail sync in settings each time?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone do you have? Many phones have an Auto-Sync toggle in the Quick Settings, if you swipe down from the top with two fingers. Or you can add your own toggle, like with Power Toggles. The actual setting is usually in Settings>Data Usage, although sometimes it's in Settings>Mobile Networks.

Turning off Auto-Sync will also turn off syncing for all other Google apps as well. You can manually refresh within each of those apps, though.

I have a MotoX and my quick settings no longer have a sync button since the update. I also no longer have a Mobile networks section, and there's nothing to be found about syncing in the Data Usage section.

Anything else you've got?

Power Toggles is still high on my recommendation list. You can add a toggle bar to either your homescreen or the notification panel that includes the Auto-Sync toggle, as well as many others. You can also add app shortcuts (I have a shortcut to the Play Store and RealCalc in mine). It's lightweight and I think ad-free. The developer keeps the app updated, and is responsive to feedback.

The option should still be in your Settings, though. Try going to Settings>Data Usage, then tap the Menu button. Also, which generation of the Moto X do you have?

I also recommend Power Toggles, that's what I use.

You can find the auto sync option in settings - accounts - overflow menu (three dots top right). If you tap on any of those accounts you can individually change the sync options.

After Lollipop the quick settings changed a bit. To switch mobile on and off you have to tap on the cell signal icon on top of your carrier name.

Power toggles, that's what I was looking for - they disappeared with the update! Thank you both!
