how fast should wi-fi hotspot tethering in 4G be? When I checked using several speed test sites,
my Galaxy Nexus is getting up to 17mbps download speed from Verizon's 4G network. (usually
averages around 11mbps to 15mbps)

when I turned on hotspot, my PC and laptop is only getting 3mbps to 5mbps from the GN's
wi-fi output. (all in the same room... or even when next to each other) Is this normal?

I get 10-12 mbps in my laptop with tethering from GN.

Already cancelled my internet service a month ago.

I tested mine not long ago with a 10 GB download. Speeds never dropped below 10MB and got up to the low 20s from time to time.

I should clarify that this was a tired tether. Wireless will probably be a tad slower, but I've never tried it.

Thats about the same as the wifi hotspot on my 4g ipad in the North Jersey area.

How do you do wired tether? I tried with USB cable and somehow there is no workaround with hotspot fee. With wireless tether, I am fine.

Does anybody's GN fail to send text messages/ receive calls after/during the use of a tethering app?
I'm on 4.0.4 leaked with the Wifi tether app pre110.
Tried different ones with the same results...

Have to reboot to get back to normal.

Never had an issue using the built in stock one on an unrooted nexus. I use a free tethering widget to avoid the fee. No root necessary

I use FoxFi, not rooted. I can send texts while I am tethered and after. I'm on 3G only here, too. Of course data gets interrupted while I send and receive texts but it picks back up right away.
