How I kept my Unlimited Plan

Hey everyone,

I'm new to Android and I just picked up the SG3 last night, figured I'd come over here and share a tip I found. Used to be a heavy Blackberry user, than iPhone...

Anyway, I spotted this thread over at Slickdeals, and I figured it was worth a shot.

Verizon Wireless Unlimited Data Upgrade /w 2yr contract & NEW PHONE ALIVE! YMMV - Slickdeals.net

I went into verizon last night and was able to keep my Unlimited Plan for 2 more years.

Read through the thread there for directions, but basically there seems to be a glitch in the system. Don't know how long it will last.


I'm sure many of you have unlimited already, but hopefully this can help someone without adding and cancelling numerous lines or jumping through hoops.

Something to note: (sorry if this has been mentioned)
Using the upgrade discount on your line and signing a new 2 year contract will nullify your unlimited plan.
Buying at full retail without singing a new 2 year contract will keep your unlimited plan in tact.

or...

If you have multiple lines on your account you can use the upgrade discount from the line other than yours, update the 2 year contract (on that line) and retain your unlimited plan.
My wife was already on a 2GB plan (she uses less than 1GB a month) so I singed a new 2 year contract for her line and used her discount.
Got the S3 for the discounted price and retained my unlimited plan.

this has been posted before a few days ago. It is a loophole that I suspect verizon would soon patch, so if you plan on doing it do it soon, and be sure to do screen shots showing unlimited data in the order.

There was and may still be a glitch in Verizon's system where last night I updated to the SG3 and kept my unlimited. The guy didnt know what was going on but gave it to me and said I lucked out.

I'm sorry, I used the search function on the forum and didn't see a post topic related to it. I saw related threads, but nothing like this.

Could be wrong, new to forum sorry.
