How often do you replace your phone?

I only really upgrade every 2-3 years. Not because the phone is bad but because manufacturer's won't update the OS. Why smartphones are different than laptops kills me.

Professionally I need every new popular, mentionable phone out. However, personally, I stick with phones as long as possible.

Well my dearies - every time I end a call and put the phone back in its cradle of course,

... being careful to untangle the cord before I put it back.

I then clean the perspex circular finger dial and wait patiently for another caller who will say they misdialed and keep them talking as long as I can. The longest I have kept a person on the line is 31 minutes.

Wireless phones indeed. There's no such thing.

I wish I knew how I got here though.

Generally each year. As I pass my phones to family members, it can be less than a year.
  • HTC One M7 - 14 months
  • LG G3 - 5 months
  • S6 Edge - Current

I generally go from contract to contract, so about 2 years each. Usually get the latest greatest Moto or HTC available as soon as my 24 months is over, but the flagships are so good now and so little changes from year to year, I was thinking of saving some money this time and getting an HTC One M8 (instead of the M9) as I can now get it for free on 2 year contract. That means I'll have it for two years, but it will be a 3 year old phone when I replace it.

Well, really depends.

For example last year (2014) I switched from : LG G3 > Z3 Compact > OnePlus (just try it) > iPhone 6 > Lumia 1520 (to try Technical preview) > And last but the best thus far on my phone collection the Note 4.

Still using my Note 4 :) Wanted to get S6 Edge but still trying to convince myself I should wait for sales

Once a year. On the other side, it depends on phone, If it will not work properly then i will go for the change.

Every year even though i don't want to but i cannot resist it. The problem is i start getting bored with my phone once it completes one year and everyday new phones keep coming out, it gets harder and harder to resist getting a new one even though i don't need any extra new features. But i only buy $100-150 unlocked phones because i can't afford more expensive ones and also cant risk losing or getting an expensive phone stolen. So its been Samsung Corby, LG Cookie, Nokia 5230,Lumia 520 and currently Moto E.

I used my trusted Xiaomi Mi2 for almost three years before buying a LeTV S1. I guess I could have used it even longer because it has 2 GB RAM and a great camera but the screen size (4.3") became rather small. My new phone has 5.5" display + optical image stabilization in camera and I love it!
