How to access nexus 5 files on computer?

Hi, my nexus 5's screen is damaged and cannot access my phone at all but can turn it on.

Is there a way to access the files on my computer without going through the phone.

Have you tried connecting your N5 to your computer with a USB cable? It should be turned on. If you are on Windows, open File Manager the N5 will show up.
