Finally.....get rid of this irritating auto backup folder in gallery...You can also get rid of this just follow this simple steps...1.Go to your device settings...2.Application Manager....3. All Apps...4.Then select Google+ and then click on clear data and Disable that app....All done... :) also you can turn off autobackup just by signing into Google+ then settings and turn off autobackup :) from there onwards your photos will never get saved on Google+ Gallery...Have Fun...:)

Thanks Bro, this worked like a charm and I didnt have to delete any pics or anything. :)

I figured it out! The easiest way is to 1) tap on Gallery, 2) press menu button, 3) press Content to display, 4) uncheck Content in Picasa. This will remove the Auto backup completely from your device. You should then go on your pc and remove the photos from your Google+ account if you dont want them on there either

What about disabling photo and photo backup sync from system settings > accounts > google > account.

Then delete the album from the gallery. Anyone try that to see if it removes future images from being visible in gallery?

Hi srkmagnus...its quite simple if u understand what these sync settings are doing.I have nexus 5 ..so what am explaining below might/might not apply to all droids..
Under Setting -> Account -> Google -> tap on your account ..and turn off sync.
When you tap on your account there you see many sync settings like..App data,Calendar,Chrome..etc.
Of these only 3 r important to us.( for this issue )
1) Google+ photos and Google+ sync your camera pics to your Google+ account which is nice as you can have them even if u loose ur mobile or loose pics somehow.
2) Google photos ( beware of this..this is the trouble maker ) : this will sync photos in Google + back to your phone.

So to solve the autoback up problem do the below :
1) turn off sync
2) go to Google + on WEB and delete ALL pics. Nothing to worry they just get moved to trash bin and stay there for 60 days ( I don't remember exact days :p)
3) just turn on Google Photos sync by tapping on it.
This will sync ur mobile with ur web Google +..as there are no pics in ur Google+ ur autoback folder will be deleted.
4) now be careful Never to tap on this 'Google photos'.
Minor inconvenience is u have to manually sync the other ones..but I think its good to do it manually than going for autosync as it saves battery and saves data mb too.
5)in Google+ on WEB move back all the pics back to your folders from trash bin.

Hope this helps.
Let me know if you need any clarification.

1. The Stop Sync Picasa Web Albums
Go to the settings of your Android smartphone, find the Account menu and then click on Google Account. Choose your email address, and then uncheck the option "Sync Picasa Web albums"

2. Clean Data in Gallery
Now, Picasa is no longer synced to your smartphone, or a new photo album will not be raised again. However, the photos from the previous synchronization would still be there in your Gallery, which is why you need to remove and clean up these files.

Go to the menu Settings -> Application manager then swipe to the third tab (All), scroll down to the Gallery, and then click the Gallery. There, you can delete the data that you want.

3. Refresh Gallery
You simply open the Gallery you to do this, and wait Gallery to refresh and build thumbnails of your photos back. If your photo collection a bit, then prrosesnya be fast, but if you have a collection of photographs that quite a lot, then you need a little more patience to wait.

I THINK THAT'S ALL, BECAUSE I've TRIED IT...
GOOD LUCK....

Go through my post above..u need to sync 'Google Photos'.it will sync ur Google+ pics to ur autobackup on mobile..as you have no pics on Google + ur autobackup will have 0 pics AFTER sync in effect no auto back up folder .and make sure u don't turn on this sync later.
