How to delete Picasa photo's on Galaxy S5?

I just got around to doing this, though it's been a problem for quite some time. Most of the advice on here only 'hides' the Picasa album from you, but does not delete the photos entirely, and that was simply not acceptable to me. Not sure about the rest of you, but I don't like the idea of my photos just sitting out somewhere where I have no control over them. Anyhow, one of the users way back on the first page actually shared the most useful piece on here, and that's how to get to the actual Picasa site and delete photos WITHOUT having to completely redo your email account and google login, thus forcing you to redo settings. Go to picasaweb.google.com/home and login using your google email. From there you can actually delete (or do other things with if this is something you'd like to keep) your photos. I will warn you, it is a giant pain because every time it sync'd (daily for me) it created a new album. This means that every time you added pictures you've got an album in Picasa waiting for you. This is an issue because to delete the album, you have to open the album. Took me about an hour to delete about 150 albums. You might find a better way, but I did not.

picasaweb.google.com/home ->Login with gmail (or google+)->Delete photos

Now this won't get rid of them from your phone unless you download the newest version of the ap (which I didn't want to do). To do that, you follow the advice that has been given. Go to your gallery, select your menu button (three vertical dots at the top left) and select settings from the drop down list. That opens up another screen. Click on the big 'g' followed by your gmail account name. That should take you to the screen where you can select what you want to auto sync. Deselect 'Sync Picasa Web albums'. Now you won't sync anymore. Now, go to your main phone settings (should look like a gear). Somewhere in there, there should be an 'applications manager' button. Choose that. The top tool bar scrolls-move that to 'ALL' and find Gallery (alphabetical order). Once that is open, you have options to 'FORCE STOP', 'CLEAR DATA', 'CLEAR CACHE', and 'CLEAR DEFAULTS'. Click 'CLEAR DATA' and then 'CLEAR CACHE'. This should get rid of the ghost photos as well as not show any that you left in Picasa but don't want to delete. This did not delete any of my other photos or my albums. Hope that helps. :)

GALLERY->MENU->SETTINGS->g(gmail)-> Uncheck Sync Picasa
PHONE SETTINGS->AP MANAGER->ALL->GALLERY->CLEAR DATA, CLEAR CACHE

Re: Deleting Picasa Photos ?

It took me awhile to figure this out, I even tried downloading the Picasa app for my Mac. Anyways besides turning of sync you need to go into your Google Dashboard via Browser.

Under Piscaso is where you can delete the pics. It can't be done through your phone.

Thank you! I was going crazy and finally a solution that worked.

google "google dashboard" takes you right there. Select pics, click delete.
Thanks Bembol!

The problem I have is that there is no "sync picasa web albums" in the Google account settings and that I can't get rid of the notification that gamey would like to sync picasa web albums.
You have to go to settings in your phone, then account>click google>click you're email address>Then lastly uncheck sync picasa web album. Mines is at the very bottom. This will stop it from adding anymore photos.

Then to clear it from your photos. Go to application>application manager> the "All" tab and click gallery> Then clear data. It will just refresh the photo gallery, it won't delete nothing but the picasa file.

Re: Deleting Picasa Photos ?

Thanks Jeff. But I also found that if you want to delete the Picasa folder in your Gallery on your phone.....open your Gallery>click on the 3 menu buttons>menu will open and click on "content to display">I then unchecked the "all content" and just kept "content in device">click ok> and that darn pesty Picasa folder is now gone.

I wanted to get rid of that darn Picasa folder in my Gallery and finally figured it out. Everyone's suggestions helped.

I literally love you so much right now. All the photos i deleted were still on my phone and i was getting so irritated. I tried so many different things people said on here and finally this one worked

Thank you so much this was very helpful at first i thought it was going to delete all of my photos but it didn't but anyways i wanted to say this was very helpful

Re: Deleting Picasa Photos ?

Does this clear only the Picasa album or also every other image in your phone because that will be bad

Does it only delete the photos in Picasa, because when I go to do it , it says it will delete all files documents etc ..?

Re: Deleting Picasa Photos ?

OMG Thank you so much--finally a way to delete all those picasa pictures. And I now have it set so hopefully no more are saved. Thank you Thank you!!!!

No longer any reason to delete Picasa. It's going the way of the dodo bird as of tomorrow (March 15). That should solve a few problems for many.

I cannot find a Picasa app on the phone to delete, and have seen the recs to delete the gallery. Will this delete all the other images on my phone? I am reluctant to delete gallery in case that will happen. Thanks!

Re: Deleting Picasa Photos ?

Go into app settings and scroll to Picasa force stop and clear data and clear cache and click "turn off". Done

Posted via Android Central App

I went into my app and stopped several, but could not find picasa at all.I stopped the syncing some time ago. I would appreciate any further advice to help delete some of these photos from my phone. Also, I went into Google+ and could not see how to access any picasa photos.

If u have the new update you can go on fallacy then click the 3 dots top right corner and you'll see 'contents to display' unchecked 'content in Picasa' idk if it deletes it or not but it won't show it in your gallery :) hope this helps
