How to do I stop unwanted notifications on Notification Bar

Hi there!

The Notification Bar on my new phone (Samsung Galaxy S6, Android 6.0.1, Nova Launcher Prime 5.0) spills over daily with tons of notifications (missed calls, messages, app updates and the like), which is truly annoying to me.

Is there a way to stop these notifications from appearing in the first place? (I don't need them, find them stressing and a f****** fate of time.)

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Notifications, as described for the S7: https://support.sprint.com/support/...edisableApplicationNotificationsOnYourSamsung. (I'm assuming here that the menu for the S7 on Marshmallow is essentially the same as that for the S6.)
