I have tried a lot. My understanding is that if I downgrade to 4.4.2, I can root my S5 easily. The phone refuses to take any software given by Odin (3.10.7). I have turned reactivation lock off, cleared the cache, factor reset the phone, and turned USB debugging on. Ideally, I would load 4.4.2 (I am using G900VVRU1ANE9_G900VVZW1ANE9_G900VVRU1ANE9_HOME.tar.md5 from sam mobile), but would be fine with any method to root. Yes I am in download mode while trying to put the new OS on. (also I tried KingRoot) The log on Odin is:
"

<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Binary Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..

<ID:0/006>

<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
"

On the phone, the error is:
"
SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1
"

Any suggestions?? (sorry for the repost but I want to get notifications)

Unfortunately, your phone might be stuck on Lollipop. In the latest updates, Verizon has incremented the bootloader and thus disabled any way to downgrade the OS. This is a known fact for the Note 4 on Verizon... and I think a few other carriers... so I'm not surprised if they also did it to the S5.

Nonetheless, you might try downgrading to 4.4.4 before jumping to 4.4.2. If you can downgrade at all, maybe you're just trying to jump down too far at once.
