[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

The only thing that's not working for me is the Market. I can get into it and authenticate, but I can't actually install anything. Is there a fix that I may have missed?

EDIT: Apparently the issue may have to do with HC having an inconsistent login to Google services. After rebooting...retrying...it finally came up with a "Logging into Google Services" modal box. Now I'm able to start the download but it's slower than snot. 15 minutes later and I'm only at 16% downloading Pulse.

So I downloaded the image and put it on a 16gb card via WinImage(administrator).

Comes up with 110mb/115mb on the card after that image is written.

Eject the card and put it into my Nook (stock) and it boots and sits at the loading screen for 10+ minutes without any luck.

It says A N D R O I D _ and blinks the cursor at the end. Nothing else.

I tried this when I was on 2.1 rooted and thought maybe it's because I rooted/did something to modify how it would load the system.

Now restored to 1.0.0 and still same results. I've burned it to the memory card twice to ensure that it burned correctly.

Both same results.

Anyone with any suggestions is appreciated.

THX.

This will work on a Nook Color out of the box with 1.0.0?

I put it on the card and booted and it sticks at A N D R O I D _ with the cursor blinking.

So what are the pre-steps to installing Honeycomb that I'm missing?

Anyone having problems unzipping the image file both 7zip and jzip says unsupported compression format.

Download WINrar. Someone posted earlier about the problem with this.

WinRar takes care of it. 7zip or Winzip doesn't work.

It shouldn't matter whether you have 1.0, 1.1 or Windows 95 on your Nook's internal memory, so I'm not sure what's happening on yours. Try powering down and rebooting?

I added overclocking instructions to OP!
I just want to clarify, you are saying replace the Honeycomb UImage file that came with the honeycomb build with the separately-downloaded UImage file that is linked in the post? I just wasn't sure about that bit - of copy it to your computer. Thanks.

Yep, that's it. You're replacing the old uImage with the one linked to in the OP.

It took a few minutes to get past the A N D R O I D _ but eventually switched to the Android graphic and finally booted. Subsequent boots were faster. The first one takes awhile.

I tried rebooting 3 times and let it sit for 20 minutes the last time.

This is a nook color out of the box now basically running 1.0.0

Followed instructions to the T but there must be something I'm obviously missing. ANother guy at work is having the same issues I am.

and we're doing it separately and running into the same issue with A N D R O I D _ with the cursor flashing.

why did you reboot your computer? that should have nothing to do with the nook color booting.
I believe Monkey was answering the inquiry about ADB not connecting properly. I guess we need to make sure to include quotes, in a fast-moving thread like this.

I keep getting an error about the image burning to the SD Card... Gonna try deleting and redownloading it. Crossing my fingers!

Update... Didnt work! WTF is up? Any ideas? It says error code 5.

Thanks for all you guys do. All of you!

Well got the nook running Honeycomb. Followed the instructions and it worked like a charm. Now I have to read and figure out the Android SDK and ADB to get Google tools and market running. I started to try tonight but when I started Aandroid SDK, I was told to install java se that the run-time version would not cut it. I will slowly but surely get all of this going. Thanks again to everyone. And a very special thanks to Will Shanklin for making this all clear and fun.

Yeah you're right. Sorry! I was typing fast. Yes, I ended up rebooting my computer as well as the Nook. In hindsight it's possible the Nook reboot took care of the issue by itself. It sounds like it fixed the issue though.
