[HOW-TO] Download/Install Honeycomb to Nook Color (SD card)

Hi friends
I am looking for a free but reliable honeybee or gingerbread android software for my nook color please

How do I get access to usb mode with honey comb running on sd card? I don't see any pull down manual for it unlike cm7.

Is there any version of android 3 or 3.1 that includes access to the android apps market that will run on the nook color from an SD card...I can run your 3.0 w/o aceess to the market but get confused when I attempt to install the market place.

Follow the instructions in the 2nd part of the first page to install the market access. It works fine. Some apps may have issues but the market itself is working with no problems.

I am brand new to nook and Android. I feel confident with rooting. I havent done it yet, but i have jailbroken several ios devices and im now making the jump over. I do, however, have several books with bookmarks placed on my nook. how can i preserve the stuff ive got on the nook? move it to my mac via sd card before root and honeycomb? HELP!!!

Well, after a week of using this and getting the kinks out, I think I am going to go to Gingerbread. No offense to the developer as you did an unbelievable job, but even if the source code was available and we could get flash, I just don't think this O/S is quite ready for prime time. And with a 7" screen, maybe the Nook Color doesn't really benefit a whole lot from Honeycomb. I'm also going to replace the Froyo ROM. My card is pretty fast, but I suspect it will run much better off the internal memory.

I am having a problem with putting the honeycomb image on my sd card. I have tried it on 2 different cards now and I don't know whats wrong. I have a pny 8 gb class 10 card. I put the card in my laptop (running win7 64bit) and run winimage (unregistered and in admin mode) after i go to disk> restore virtual hard disk image on drive, and I select the nookhoney04 image and click ok it runs but immediatly says there is an error and doesn't finish. then when I go into my computer I can see that the size of the card has been reduced to 113mb! This is the second card this has happened to! I have tried everything to format it back to its original size but nothing works. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING! and is it possible to restore the size of my card? I have tried multiple formats and it just formats to 113mb.... I am quite tech savvy nut I don't know whats wrong or how to fix this. I really want to put this OS on my nook.

Please read some pages back. I have seen where someone posted a way to do this in the nook color itself.

Go to EASEUS FREE Partition Manager Software. Free Partition Magic alternative for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and Windows Server 2000/2003/2008. Hard Drive partition software. and download the free easeus utility. You can then fix the card. Also, you will probably need it anyway to recover the unformated part of the card after it has been properly imaged and the program to load the image completely erases the card and only formats enough space for the image. You will later use it to stretch the remaining partition to get back the rest of the card.

Another wierd thing about using honeycomb. I manage to install market place on it, however, when I put jpeg/pdf file at the root myfile directory at nook, honeycomb is nto able to access it while gingerbread can read the file no problem.

Why would you put any non system file in the root directory?

Honeycomb is an alpha version at best since the source code is not available. You cannot expect it to match Gingerbread feature for feature.

did you go back to Gingerbread? if so, how is it going and where did you get it.

Easeus has a couple of options that I don't know what the difference is between them. Should I be creating a partion or recovering a partion to get back the unused space on the card? thanks for all your help on this.

When running EASEUS, you will see the last formatted partition, which on my case only showed about 1GB, and then the unused after that. Highlight the last formatted partition and then choose the top option in the drop down menu under Partitions. I believe it is called resize/move. You will see a bar partially dark colored which represents the formatted part. Just drag it all the way across to increase the size and hit the ok button. The action will now show as a pending operation. To finish just just save from the drop down menu.

I finally got the market loaded. Now I'm trying to download apps, and it says that it is starting to download them, but never actually downloads or installs. What am I missing?

Cannot Figure out How to Load the two apk files

I cannot figure out how to do the following instructions. I downloaded the apks on my PC, but I don't see any way to get it to the Nook with Honeycomb running. I don't know how to get to the directories shown below on the Nook under Honeycomb and my PC doesn't recognize the Nook when it is USB connected.

Installing the Android Market on the Nook Color running Honeycomb:
1. Download this version of the Market (2.2.11).
2. Download GoogleServicesFramework.apk.
3. Place the files in your adb tools folder (or platform-tools on the newer version - wherever adb.exe is)
4. Open a command prompt in that folder, and issue the following commands:
adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 /system
adb push Vending.apk system/app/Vending.apk
adb push GoogleServicesFramework.apk system/app/GoogleServicesFramework.apk
adb shell
cd system/app
chmod 6755 Vending.apk
chmod 6755 GoogleServicesFramework.apk

Help! By the way, getting Honeycomb installed on the SD card went very smooth. I, too, didn't think it was working initially. They I couldn't figure out how to get past the first screen. I finally figured that out and have been playing around on it.
