How to get a deal on Note 3

Re: How to get a deal on note 3

So I cant complain. I got an AT&T Note 3 for nothing. I waited for the Defender to go on sale. I got that for $40. This never happens to me the way it did. I'm happy and the wife is happy I actually made out like a bandit. Merry Christmas to me.

Good for you, and Happy Holidays !!! :)

Re: How to get a deal on note 3

Thank you!!!!!

Based on what was posted here, I called AT&T and asked for retention. Took an hour of back and forth, with the rep calling multiple folks in retention. I refused to give up and pleasantly kept asking if there wasn't something more that could be done. Finally got a person in retention who said there was no way they could give me a Gear for free with the Note3. However, they were willing to match the price given on this forum of $224.99 for the Note3, AND I got two "discounts" added to my monthly bill of $150 and $100 ($250 total), to they PAID me $25 to get a new Note3!!

Then when she emailed me the receipt, I noticed a $36 activation/upgrade fee; got her to credit that off the bill. Free overnight shipping as well.

It really does feel like Christmas.

Thanks again.

So is the Galaxy Pad still being offered with the Note 3?

I called with a good while left on my current contract and they said they'd upgrade me for $299

Ha - how generous of them. :p
Call retention and tell them your going to get a N3 from a different carrier, one without a locked bootloader, (watch how quick they change their tune)

Yeah it seems like you're the only one with any luck on the watch. I've only been under contract for 4 months

Don't try to get a deal on ATT if you don't have to. You will quickly notice that they have removed some core features of the device. They have gotten me stuck on contract for the last time. Next go around will be T-Mobile. They give you the real phone and cheaper service with no throttling of their "unlimited" plan. Apple does not allow any carrier to put bloat on their iPhone I don think. Samsung is bigger and yet ATT bloats up the N3 with a dozen or so useless apps. With that they also strip some of the features of the device so they can then charge you for them. If I have to stay with ATT I will almost be forced to get an iphone if I want a pure phone. I almost wish I had gone with my second choice and gotten a nexus 5. Then I would not be on contract and I would have a pure phone with no ATT bloat and disabling.

I don't think you read this thread. You will pay hundreds more for the phone on T-mobile, isn't that worth a few dinky bloatware apps that you can never use. Also unlimited data doesn't get throttled until 5GB, which is pretty high. T-Mobile can win my business but they have to do better than the BS offers they have now.

Re: How to get a deal on note 3

How do you figure? To bile gives you all costs up front detailed in the invoice. Just because att says the only charge for the phone is the down payment of 299 does not mean the rest of the cost isn't amortize into the monthly payments. You are paying at least 700 for your note 3 no matter where you get it.

My AT&T bill for 2 phones is usually around $130 and they give me bill credits whenever I ask for them so it's probably closer to $120 and I have 2 unlimited lines and like 3000 rollover minutes. I get great reception and don't pay for my phone on top of my bill. If I switched to T-Mobile I would still pay about $130 after taxes plus the costs of the phones. Adding a bill on top of my bill is just stupid. I haven't really been able to figure out how switching would ever even begin to benefit me. I'd pay an extra $50-60 depending on the phones and if I signed up for Jump! it would be another $20 for both lines. Again, more money. So they can show me what I'm paying all they want but the point is they're showing me that I'm paying way more. This might not be the case with everyone but I'm just saying what's best for you or me isn't best for someone else.

Re: How to get a deal on note 3

Not sure of your exact situation. I just priced it against my current plan on ATT.

Comparison:
Currently on ATT:
Grandfathered unlimited + unlimited text + 2000? shared minutes = $299/mo. That does not include the $299 up front for the brand new iphone 5s 32gb, another $299 5s 32gb, a $199 5s 16gb, and my Note 3 which I was able to get for $199.
Total after the 2 year contract is: $8,172 (wow, I don't want to figure this out any more...)

TMobile:
4 lines 3 with unlimited data, 1 with 500mb ($20/mo difference)
with brand new phones for each line.
1 Note 3
2 5s 32gb $99ea up front
1 5s 16gb
Total after 2 years: $6587.89

A savings of $1584.11 and true unlimited on the unlimited plans.

Is that with paying $100 a month for the phones as well? Because if you're telling me you're saving money on the plan I believe you but if you're telling me that the plan is under $200 a month for 4 lines then I still believe you but wow lol

Yes I priced it with the new iphones as if I was buying 4 new phones at Web price on their site.

I lost my ATT Skyrocket! I was three months from being eligible for upgrade. Amazon is selling the Note 3 for 219. I called ATT and they matched the Amazon price.

AT&T currently selling Note 3 for $149.99 online. Go to website, free shipping or in - store pickup.
