How to get my Outlook/Hotmail online contacts?

Hi, I have a follow up question of sorts. I am coming from a Windows Phone, so I downloaded the Outlook app on my S8, added all of the accounts, and chose to have my calenders and contacts sync, and everything worked fine. When I go to the contacts app all of my Outlook contacts are there. However, I tried adding a new contact yesterday and it didn't work.

I went to the samsung contacts app, chose to add a new one, and chose my Outlook account as the default location for new contacts. I added it and kept checking Outlook.com to make sure the new contact would be pushed to it, and it never was. Then the contact suddenly disappeared from my phone. I tried adding it again and same thing happened. So about ten minutes ago, I went to Outlook.com to add the contact, and it synced right away to the Outlook app, but it still hasn't synced to the Samsung contacts app. I wouldn't even bother with the Contacts app if the Outlook app allowed me to add contacts through it, but it inexplicably does not. If anyone has any ideas here, aside from exporting them to Google, I'd appreciate it!

Forget the question. I just went to the Outlook mail app and played around with it, and found a help article on the contact sync that says contacts added online will sync to the phone, but contacts added on the phone will not sync online, and that they plan on improving this in the coming months. Weird and frustrating.

It is frustrating.

I've stopped using the Outlook mail app and have switched to Nine Mail for several reasons. First, I actually like the UI of it better than the MS Outlook app. Secondly, it does a two-way sync on contacts from the app (just double checked that) for both my personal and corporate O365 accounts. It also syncs the calendar, tasks and notes (the MS app can't handle tasks and notes.) I haven't figured out how to view notes in the web version, but they do sync and show up in my full desktop Outlook client that I use at work. I have actually disabled my Google contacts from showing up everywhere, so my phone only uses my Outlook contacts and it works great.

Two week free trial. After that, it's $9.99 (they say it's a limited time offer, although it's been at that price for a while as I bought it over a month ago.) Highly recommended.

Thanks for the tip! I'm hoping Microsoft fleshes this out sooner rather than later. I actually like the email function of the app a lot, and it was easy to set up. They should either build out this app to handle it all better, or port over their contacts app from Windows Phone to take care of it.

Got it, got the contact settings and all that. let's see if they sync now..
What server and settings did you use.I have outlook for email contacts calendar and task .no matter what server I use I can't get calendar and contacts to sync with Samsung contact and calendar apps on my s 8 plus

I just got a Galaxy S8+ coming from a iPhone 6s and I used to add my Outlook account to the email app on ios and all my contacts would sync. And I could add all my other emails under one app.

Is something like this possible on my S8+ and how do I import them contacts, or preferably sync them.

To sync your outlook contacts go to settings within the app and click on you outlook email address under accounts and switching on Sync contacts.

after that you will need to go into your contacts app > settings > contacts to display > and select outlook

then head to Manage contacts > Sync Contacts > and select which accounts you want to sync
