How to get my Outlook/Hotmail online contacts?

I just got a Galaxy S8+ coming from a iPhone 6s and I used to add my Outlook account to the email app on ios and all my contacts would sync. And I could add all my other emails under one app.

Is something like this possible on my S8+ and how do I import them contacts, or preferably sync them.

Export them to csv file then use Google contacts to import

Outlook has a function that allows you to export your contacts. It's under tools last I checked.

Yes, you can certainly sync an Outlook.com/Hotmail account to your device -- email, contacts and calendar.

When I added mine, I found a message in the Inbox that required action before the account would sync. Words to the effect of "Please download the Outlook.com app for Android." there was a smaller print note "click here to use your account with another mail app". So, check your mail app to see if you have the message. If so, click through the link and your account should start syncing.

Did some digging and find it but it's not under tools. I'm talking about Outlook.com

Did you install the Outlook app or used the phone app mail?

I used the default mail app from Samsung. That's where I received the message when I added the account. I did not install the Outlook.com app.

Go to your Hotmail on a computer and try this.

Ok I was able to add it in the Samsung mail app but nothing yet nor my contacts synced to phone.

Found out. I'll see if there is a way to sync contacts first if not I guess I will have to import.

It's best to have the contacts in Google anyway. I've been working on the same contacts database exported from Outlook when I used to have a Handspring Visor back in 1999.

It's because my main stuff is Outlook. It's my personal email.

That is a very subjective claim. If you mean to work best on Android, absent other constraints, then I agree.

Why is it that iOS and Windows phones have no issues syncing with Google services, Yahoo services, Outlook and Exchanges services, etc. natively and Android has major issues? The best I've been able to get my Galaxy Tablet to sync is only my main Outlook calendar and email. iOS just works as does, obviously, my Windows 10 phone. Exporting contacts and importing them to Google is fine for some but not for others. I was just hoping that maybe there was an update coming on the S8 that fixed this glaring issue, apparently not.

Outlook on Android doesn't sync things with the native apps. I am on a trial using Nine. It does sync all my Outlook.com calendar info and contacts but is isn't perfect. Give it a try, maybe it will work for you.

These are settings using Samsung email app and a Microsoft account (hotmail, live, outlook, etc)

Not what I'm getting unfortunetely. And under the advanced settings not there either.
