How To Get Rid of the 4.0.4 Radios?

Thanks moosc.

So CWM will just flash the 2 radios and the booloader from the one zip? If so, that's cool but why wouldn't it flash the radios contained in the full image zip when you restore or flash a new ROM?

Did you try and grab the Odin flash? I'm sure that will restore you to bone stock box condition.

Hmm, I don't see it. I start ROM Manager and then I flash CWM Recovery and then I Reboot into Recovery. Never got the option of wiping the cache.

It should be under wipe data/cache. It'll say "wipe cache partition"

After looking at how the images are packaged in the zip files I see how it works. ROM image zips don't contain the radios. So CWM simply flashes all of the images contained in the zip. That's why the zip that moosc will work. Nice. You learn something new everyday.

U should just b able to boot into cwr if you all ready had clockwork installed. Once in cwr its like 3rd option wipe cache. U use volume control to scroll between options.

Would you recommend going back to the 4.0.2 bootloader and radios before flashing another rom? Or is it an entirely separate consideration?

It could b a host of things there are a bunch files out there so u never now what your getting. But as ling as its a vzw signed os it should have the radios. Asop files dont have radio files

LOL Don't ask me!!! I'm still new to this Android stuff ha, ha.... I'm sure someone else will answer that, but it sounds like it's a separate consideration.

Just want to make sure I don't know what I'm talking about?

If so, I pretty much only know what I learned today, what I've done more than 3 times, or what I've stored away in a wiki, a guide or have bookmarked. LOL

lol no, just want to make sure if that pesky flashing bug comes back (or, if, heavens be still, CM9 is released) I can get to rockin'!

Your guides are awesome, thank you!

With the power off, I press both vol up and down together and then power and I go into fastboot. Then I hit volume up to go into recovery. Then I get the android laying down with the red triangle. That stays on the screen for awhile and then the phone boots normally without me pressing anything.

This occurs despite that I have flashed CWM Recovery.

Go to Rom Manager. Go into recovery there. It should be the option directly beneath wipe data/factory reset.

You have a problem with CWM then. I think you need to do something else at that point to finish CWM.
I think I do, too. I remember reading somewhere on the forum that someone else had this problem, too but I don't think anyone was able to solve it for that person.

I wonder if my problem with writing to my GNex from Windows XP is somehow related to this? Something maybe like that I don't really have full root access? Is there some way to check to see if I truly have root access?

You do not have CWM written as your permanent recovery. Here's an excellent write-up on how do make CWM permanent.

When I go into Reboot into Recovery from ROM Manager, I get the dead android. Then the phone spontaneously reboots after a couple of minutes of the dead android.

The only way I can avoid the dead android is to reflash CWM Recovery and then go directly into Reboot into Recovery from ROM Manager. But if I don't reflash CWM Recovery each time before I go into Reboot into Recovery, I get the dead android. Each time I reflash CWM Recovery it tells me it was successful.

Obviously something is wrong since CWM Recovery never gets flashed permanently to my phone. I think this must have something to do with how I can't write to my GNex from Windows XP. Maybe I don't truly have root access?

I just went into advanced options and I saw fix permissions so I am running that. Maybe that will help?

ETA - nope didn't fix it. Got the dead android again.
