[HOW-TO] Install Official CM7 Release (Gingerbread) to Internal Memory (eMMC)

I cannot boot in to recovery with CM7 on my Nook Color.

I have tried through ROM Manager and by holding down the N key while powering up. Neither seems to work. Any suggestions? I have installed clockwork through ROM Manager.

Hold power and N at the same time

Does the nook have to be 1.0.1? No zip files will install for me. They all abort with no explanation. Im rooted stock 1.1

I am having problems with the lock screen not functioning (just goes straight to my homescreen). I have rebooted multiple times and it doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

Gingerbread install

Please tell me what I am doing wrong. I burned the image to the sd card, then downloaded all the files required, but I cannot copy them to the sd card because my computer tells me it needs to be formatted first. I am a noob, please help:'(!

yeah, you shouldn't have to redo the OS, just add the gapps zip again :t:

I do all the steps in the instructions. Power down the NC, put the sd in, power back on and it does nothing. Just starts up like normal. I check and its reading the card but doesn't boot into CMW.

Any suggestions?

Not to skip over an obvious thing, but you are powering it off right? Not just a quick click that puts it into sleep/screen off?

Thanks for the reply. After a little more reading I figured out what my problem was. I wasn't writing the img correctly on the sd.

This guide is intended to take you through the steps needed to replace your internal nook rom with CM7, gapps, overclock kernel (optional) and clockworkmod recovery 3.0.1.0 all on EMMC. This will work coming from any previous rom (excluding dual boot set ups, not supporting that here), no previous rooting is needed for a new nook, however don't forget to boot stock and register the device before flashing to CM7.

I take no credit for any of the files used in this guide, I'm preserving original posts so thanks should be directed to the respective people.

ALWAYS check the md5 hash for the files you are downloading to make sure you don't have corrupted files. This is a great windows utility to do that: HashCheck Shell Extension

On with the guide:
1) Download a CWM 3.0.1.0 sdcard image from this thread (credit: to cmstlist and DizzyDen). You really only need the 1gb image for this guide, no matter what the size of your card is. A smaller image will burn faster, and when you're done with the guide you can reformat the card anyway.
2) Extract the clockworkmod .img and burn to sdcard using winimage or win32diskimager. While that's burning:
3) Download the latest CM7 nightly (or if you prefer the latest Final or RC for stability) from CyanogenMod Mirror Network - Powered by TDRevolution
4) Download the latest gapps (needed for market/google services) from Downloading GApps...
5) Download ClockworkMod 3.0.1.0 flashable .zip from here (credit: MrMuffin) MD5: d7a550d683e54732bcb55eff24ada704
6) (Optional) Download dalingrin's OC kernel from Index of /dalingrin/kernels. You are looking for the latest date and then "update-CM7-dalingrin-OC-emmc-DATE.zip. (credit: dalingrin, info about the kernel and his kernel thread is here)
7) Once your sdcard is done, copy all those files to the sdcard
8) Power off your nook. Put the sdcard in, and power on, the nook will boot from sdcard into clockworkmod
9) Navigate in CWM using the vol up/down keys, N button to accept, power button to go back. Navigate to mounts/storage, and format SYSTEM, DATA, CACHE
10) Go back and navigate to Install .zip from sdcard/Choose .zip
11) Flash the files in this order:
1. cm7 image
2. gapps
3. (optional) dalingrin kernel
4. clockworkmod .zip
12) Go back to the main menu, remove the sdcard
13) Format the sdcard in your computer as fat (or use another sdcard) and put it back in the nook and then press reboot system. (CM7 requires the use of an sdcard for storage - thanks pmilford for the tip)

I completed all these steps, and now it won't boot into CM7. It will boot back into clockwork if I reformat, but the installation process seems to be failing. Any ideas?

Hotmail

I just converted my Nook to this last night and I can't figure out how to add my Hotmail account to the mail. There is only an option to add Google (which I have done) and Corporate email. Any help would be great. Thanks!

You might want to get K9 from the market and use the POP email settings for hotmail.

Or just go in to the email app and configure there.

rebooting into recovery

I still can not get this to reboot in to recovery. Any hints?

I had this problem too with cm7 booted off sd. I got it to work by holding 'n' and then pressing power until the screen blanked and then I released. Then when 'Touch the future of reading' showed up, I repeated above but held both buttons until tux showed up.

I did the install and it is great. WAYYYY better than rooted stock (autonooter).

Now . . . how do I install the update?

Can someone help a noob out?

I am having trouble installing CM7 to my Nook. I already rooted the nook using auto nooter 3.0.

The problem I am having is the following: I downloaded and unzipped the clockwork img file and dd'ed it to my 8gb sdcard (I am on a Mac). Then I try to move the CM7, Gapps and Dalingrin zips onto the sdcard but it won't let me. I checked the sdcard and it says it's READ ONLY. I checked to make sure the sdcard lock wasn't on, and it wasn't.

How do i set the sdcard to read/write permissions? And if I need to try burning the img file again, how do i format the card?

Thanks all

Now that I have done it myself, I can answer. Since you unmounted the sd card before flashing it, it should still be unmounted (you would see it on the desktop if it were mounted). Disconnect/remove the sd card, and reinsert/reconnect it to your Mac. It will mount. THEN copy the zip files to the root directory of the card.

I ran into an issue because Safari was unzipping the files and I did not realize initially that I needed to copy the ZIPs over.

I'm having issues with YouTube playback within the app and on the mobile website. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!
