[HOW-TO] Install Official CM7 Release (Gingerbread) to Internal Memory (eMMC)

since muffinworld.net is down -would anyone be willing to put cmr_3.0.1.0.zip on rapidshare or something similar and posting up the link? ... those of us who are just starting are kind of lost w/ out it...

One thing about that CMR is that the Boot ROM Manager 6.0.1.4 appears to be part of the CM7 build image already (I skipped that step and the ROM manager shows up in my Apps and the shutdown has the "restore" and other options too). So is that additional step still needed ?

After doing a wipe to restore to factory settings, I re-installed and this time it worked. I also started from the previous non-working version of cm7 instead of returning it to the BN original.

My guess is that by doing so, I loose the BN reader, or maybe I would loose it anyway. ???

The instructions seem to imply that it will work from a registered install of 1.0.1 so didn't do a wipe as I assumed the wipe would clean out the registration. But the wipe seemed to do the trick. Thanks!

Can someone help me out? I have followed the instructions at the beginning of this thread to install gingerbread on my color nook. It works great but I'd like to now try honeycomb. I have tried to follow the instructions here:

http://forum.androidcentral.com/bar...oneycomb-internal-memory-emmc-nook-color.html

However, when I try to boot off the sdcard with 128mb_rootpack-0.7.img dd'd to it, the color nook does not boot off the sdcard!

What is the best way for me to go to honeycomb on my already gingerbreaded color nook? I don't mind losing all my data on the gingerbreaded cn.

thanks,
lndbrusr

To be frank Honeycomb is a really hacked built with crap support. CM7 is the way to go.

+1

CM7 makes it a fully functioning tablet. If you want to hack around and continually install stuff try out HC. But if you want a set it and forget it go with CM7 Final.

I tried out HC and went back to CM7. As stated, CM7 is pretty much a set it and forget it OS if you want a fully functional tablet. I cannot advise about your HC issues as when I tested it I used the SD card version (didn't touch internal memory) Best of luck to you though :)

I started a thread that lists pretty much all the bugs in the current HC (http://forum.androidcentral.com/barnes-noble-nook-color/72155-honeycomb-bugs-issues.html)
Be warned though ... if you play with HC, it will make it hard to move back to CM7 (e.g. the browser is just so much better than anything on CM7).

If you ask me there are really only a couple of really annoying bugs and a general "slowness" for certain things (e.g. app drawer isn't "instant"):
1. Youtube issues
2. Screen sensitivity around the edges
3. Not all apps work under HC
4. Email app memory leak
5. Wifi sometimes doesn't work requiring reboot (and turning it off/on)

CM7 also still has a couple of bugs on the nook:
1. Contacts do not seem to work at all.
2. The notifications "slide up" is broken in CM7 and #39
3. CM7 and later added a "button" to the status bar to hide said status bar which cannot be disabled.

I followed these instructions and installed to eMMC without issues.

Only one thing concerns me: when I power up, the Nook "Touch the Future of Reading" banner is still visible before the screen goes black and the " A N D R O I D _ " and then Cyanogen dude are visible.

is that typical? If not, what'd I do wrong?

Same on my phone! Has been since the first nightly I installed.

Sent from "just another rooted Android tablet"

Ok... So, following the directions of the sticky, I attempted to install CM7 to my Nook Color.

I installed everything in order, and after I reformatted my SD Card ( a 32 GB card), I reinsterted it and rebooted the Nook. It's been stuck on the new Nook Color load screen since. Please help! What should I do next???

has anyone had problems with youtube? I cant get youtube installed on CM7 (the stable version)

Boot in to Recovery

I cannot boot in to recovery with CM7 on my Nook Color.

I have tried through ROM Manager and by holding down the N key while powering up. Neither seems to work. Any suggestions? I have installed clockwork through ROM Manager.

Still having MAJOR issues with Wifi.
1. Wifi will not stay connected when asleep for longer periods of time (tried all wifi sleep policies to fix this)
2. Wifi will be on but doesn't see ANY networks. It takes multiple reboots and at least 20 minutes of turning wifi off/on and airplane on/off to get it to work. Have to say the wifi bug in CM7 is 10x worse than the wifi connectivity issues in hacked Honeycomb.
