u have been more then helpful these last weeks ive asked alot ill check them out once ive got everything back to normal i like the nitro comb did u do the theme and app theme ?

No, just the theme because the instructions say you have to uninstall the stock apps. I only have the facebook and espn apps, but I like them the way they are. A dark theme is nice, but I don't like it too dark. I like having color too, don't want to be all black, which is why I actually use NitroDark v2.1 instead of v2.3. Too much black and too dark.

Are you asking if you flash a theme and then later you decide you want to go back to just basic plain 2.9 by itself? If so you don't have to restore a nandroid. It will be quicker to boot to recovery, flash the ROM and whatever else you want and don't flash the theme. When you reboot theme will be gone.

I can tell you with absolute certainty NitroDark and NitroComb are rock solid stable. He does good work.

To be the voice of dissent here, nothing's perfect. Generally themes are very stable, but there's always room for conflicts being that just about every phone out there is different in one way or another.

If you've got a nandroid let'er rip though.

General principles & Instructions:
1. Make certain the theme you have chosen is developed for the ROM you are currently running. Theme makers will design themes with specific ROMs in mind for proper fit and function. ROM examples: DarkREVENGE, AOSP, Kaosinate, Vanilla Froyo, MIUI, Blackhole 4.x, Superclean 2.x, etc. Flashing a theme on an incompatible ROM can (will) cause some rather disastrous outcomes. I try to make sure that all this information is specified on the download page ? if it is not there click the link in the developer name. This will take you to the developer page and there will be more details.

If you are just starting out and need clarification on flashing or CWM Sheepdog Elite - has put together a fantastic thread to help. -> link

Download and Installation Instructions:
1. Once you have established your ROM you have and the theme you want match up. Ensure that you have either the red or orange CWM depending on what is asked for by the theme maker (red should work well for the time being). Download that theme to your computer.
2. Then attach your phone via the usb cable and connect usb storage via the phone.
3. Copy the downloaded theme zip file to your sdcard.
4. When the copy is completely loaded to the phone disconnect and boot into recovery.
5. Back up your current ROM? This may be necessary for restoration given the phone does not boot properly (or at all) after installation of the theme.
6. Once back up is complete you may choose to clear your cache partition and/or the Dalvik cache. There are some who choose not to do this step and have not suffered any unpleasant outcomes.. (and others have their phones become bricks).. It is at your discretion. However, it is recommended by many theme builders.
7. Once you choose to clear cache (or not) ? navigate to install zip from sdcard.
8. Navigate to the location where you saved the theme zip file on your sdcard.
9. Install the zip.
10. If you get the error ?script not supported or outdated? the theme is using the older Amend script and you are using the newer CWM orange ? you need to boot into CWM red to get the theme to apply.
11. Once the file has installed return to the main menu and reboot phone. It will take about 2-4 minutes to reboot be patient.

Some Cautions:
Some users (me) have experienced odd behavior from the phone after flashing many (3+) themes consecutively. These side effects are: phone contacts self-delete and force close when you try to access them. Best case scenario: Flash a new theme.. Worst case scenario: This will require a D-cache wipe and base ROM re-flash.

Boot-loops upon attempts to restore past backups of the same themed ROM. This may require a D-cache wipe and base ROM re-flash. Some of these nandroid backups are corrupted or not stable and will boot loop. I have deleted them in favor of backups that are stable and can be reliably restored.

Suicide Shift found a fix that worked for him see this post

Always keep in mind there is a way out if things get really bad. ? Please check out these threads: [Guide] Tools of the Trade, Troubleshooting, Returning to Stock;

in instruction #6 it says to clear your cache partition and/or the dalvik cache, what is that? is it going to wipe everthing?

No it won't wipe everything. Boot to recovery, scroll down to wipe cache partition, hit the power button. When that is done, scroll down to advanced, hit the power button, scroll to wipe dalvik cache, hit the power button.

Easy peasy thank you much!

Hey JaeKar, I saw someone was just asking about wiping cache and dalvik just a short time ago. I just noticed something interesting. I just flashed Nitrocomb, and in the script that shows while it is installing and is still sitting on my screen, one of the lines says cleaning dalvik cache. I never bothered to read those things before and find that kind of interesting.

I noted that as well when I was flashing it for the first time. That is the first install that does that automatically. (and displays it). It may be going on in the background but I have yet to see it displayed. Nitroglyceryne33 seems to know his stuff.. I can't complain about anything he has rolled out.

Restore Update Part C (a): After the attempt to restore the themed ROM from last night I opted to let the phone charge and try differing process today. When managing some loose files I found 10 Dumpstate files from the error event last night. I browsed the code - - - I couldn't make out anything of any value. All I could tell is that the backed up apps were not restoring properly. If anyone with experience with decoding I would be happy to provide a link to the files. Please pm me.

Has anyone tried to restore themed DarkRevenge?

Edit: Restore Update Part C (b): Attempt to restore NitroComb v1.0 on SC 2.9 - Backed up 48 hours prior. Cleared cache partition and D-cache prior to restore. No add-ons or adjustments.. restoring over base SC 2.9 from restore 24 hours prior. The base update had market updates on three apps just after restore. Battery at 79%.

Results: Fail - Frozen at boot animation with haptic feedback. Could not get past boot animation to see error codes. Pulled battery - boot to recovery.

Restoring back to first SC2.9 backup.. Succeeded . No dumpstate error logs available. Updated Market apps (again).

Restore Update Part D (a): Using the most recent unmodified restore of SC 2.9 - Flashed NitroComb v1.0 and Apps .. Fail.

Restore Update Part D (b): Restored first flash SC 2.9 - Attempted to flash NitroDark 2.3 over... FAIL boot animation loop. Attempted recover from boot loop.. no recovery - Battery pull - Full wipe of cache part - D-cache and fresh reinstall of SC 2.9... Partial success. Upon attempt to acquire market - was not present on phone.

Now restoring first back up of SC 2.9... 52 hours old. Success.

I am going to stop testing for a few hours.. The only option that I have considered is fixing permissions prior to doing a backup of the themed ROM - That is what I was preparing to do before I lost the market..

+1 on Nitroglycerine33. Both of his themes seem rock solid like superclean 2.9. Only problem has been during restore of a nandroid like we have been documenting. Kind of tells me the problem is elsewhere, maybe with the size of a backup cwm is able to restore. I have fixed permissions prior to booting to cwm to do a backup, but never after a restore because last I knew fixing permissions was still not working in cwm, only terminal emulator and adb.

OK... so I just installed EB01 VA Green Theme v1.9

There is a THEME zip file and an APPS zip file. The theme is up and running - I like it. Now, what am I supposed to do with the APPS file?

You can flash the app.zip file the same as you did the theme but before you do make sure you delete the following apps if you currently have them installed:*Pandora *ScoreCenter *Twitter *Facebook according to his original post over at xda.

What happens if you dont delete those apps first? (I have 3 of the 4, no Pandora)

Could someone tell me what the music unlock controls are? I keep hearing about them but can't figure out what they do?
