[How To][Links] Themes, ROMs, Kernels, Boot Animations: 9-16-11

I can confirm that CWM Red remains after flashing. Issue resolved.

Kernel link updated.
Two things about the Kernel is the Newest CWM or just Red. Also did he do anything different to it? no need to flash this one when I already have it with newest clockwork Man I just want the battery issue taken care of. Maybe if we ever get a fascinate source code. LOL that will be the day

If you are running the newest CWM the kernel flash will not remove it.. Flash the kernel and you should be good. (pertains to the nonvoodoo kernel only).

Previous versions removed the CWM and when you booted to recovery it would take you to stock (Blue).

This no longer takes place.

I am now into hour 56 on the same charge (currently @15%) with light to moderate use (multiple flashes, 10-15 short phone calls, emails, txts, and IM use).. This is better than stock EB01, or EB16. I followed the how to battery thread and have been working to condition my battery for some time...

I have done the majority of things in that thread, except the continous boots to down to 2-4% maybe ill do that. I barleyused the phone today at work so from 7:30 to 4 came home and phone was 30% ive had this kernel now running 4 days I would say. I dont know what it could be

I have minimal apps running and very few services (<6)..

If you are having that kind of battery drain it does not sound like a kernel issue. I would be more curious about the apps you are running. It would almost sound like you have a service running.

What kind of service? I don't have any crazy apps and nothing shows up as running except launcher pro. Lil help

I am only taking a shot here. About the only things I have seen that will waste a battery fast are: Data syncing services that are constantly on in the background, email services that ping every 5 minutes, Beautiful Widgets set to update every 30 minutes, gps that is on in the back ground, blue tooth that never sleeps, and wifi that always on..

Now there are some circumstances that were beyond my control: when I worked in the emergency room - My phone would drop 20% per hour because the infrastructure of the hospital made it almost impossible for the phone to maintain contact with the service provider. The phone was constantly searching for a signal, or when it had a signal it was minimal... almost never 3G. That would waste my phone any anyone else that worked there. We opted to turn the data connection off and when we did not need to use the phone at all - switched to airplane mode... that saved us a lot of problems.

Not sure if that helps much but those are some things to consider.

I dont really have any data Syncing services except for my email, I never have Bluetooth on or Wifi. So thats not it. Dont have Beautiful Widgets and I have my Weather to update every 3 hrs. I just dont know. Im letting it drop all the way right now, than I am going to do the boot ups till 4% and then reset battery stats in CWM. Hopefully that will work. At this point I am so fed up with the battery issue it isnt even funny. Thanks

Started getting some missed calls on nonvoodoo ComaVolt (4/3), battery dropping off way faster than the previous versions, and switched over to voodoo for a few days..

Darn it we need more undervolted NV kernels wish I could do something about that, but sadly I can not.

I am almost ready to start faulting Verizon for some of these missed calls.. Three of the 6 phones I manage for my office missed calls last night during the same time frame...

We got notification for the voicemails that were left but there was no indication that the call came to the phone.

Not convinced it is the kernel to exclusion on this one.. will have to report back

How do you get rid of the boot animations that you flash in cwm? I reflashed 2.9.2 thinking that would do it but it didnt.

You must be talking about the honeycomb animation...comes with 292. Remember some get flashed, others get placed in the system/media folder.
Jae has the stock one in post 8 at the bottom

I flashed a boot animation and i want to change it back to the honeycomb one. Messing with the system / media folder did nothing.

So when you reflashed stock 292 it wasn't there? I'm pretty sure it is.

Jaekar99 is the real expert on themes and boot animations, but I believe you need to go into the system/media folder and either delete the bootanimatio.zip in there or change it to bootanimation.zip.old, then flash sc 2.9.2 so you go back to the honeycomb boot animation. There may be an easier way, but I believe that should work.

This is a link to the boot animation file that you are wanting on your phone..

You will need to download it and transfer it to your sdcard...

Using your file manager you will need to go to the system/media folder and delete the file named 'bootanimation.zip'.. if you attempted to do this previously and it did not remove the file the file manager you are using does not have read/write permissions for the root of the phone. You need Super Manager or Root Explorer for examples to do this..

Once you have removed that file go back to you sdcard and file the bootanimaton.zip that you downloaded and transfered.. copy this file.

Return to the system/media location and past the bootanimation.zip file to that location...

That will return the the boot animation (electric purple honeycomb)..

Agreed with Landshark - A reflash of SuperClean 2.9.2 will also return this boot animation to your phone.

When flashing a rom like 292 it completely "builds a new system" so in effect your prior system/media folder is replaced with the one inside the rom, hence no need for renaming or deleting bootanimation. I'm pretty sure honeycomb animation is built in the rom.

I did remove it. It's different becuase I did a boot animation that required to be flashed. Removing the bootanimation.zip and flashing 2.9.2 did not work. I'm still seeing the boot animation that I flashed.
