If it is having trouble connecting, try doing "adb kill-server" first before running any other commands.

If you can "adb shell" and get a $ prompt, then install.bat should work fine as long as the sdcard is working.

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH

in command prompt what do i have to type to get adb running is "cd androidsdk\tool\adb

adb is included in the zvhrec.zip package. Just follow the instructions, you don't need to type anything not listed in the instructions.

If you meant where to type the "adb shell" I mentioned above, you can just do it from the C:\zvhrec directory.

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH

look this is what i type in

c:\>cd \zvhrec
c:\zvrec>install.bat
then it says
c;\zvhrec\adb push copy2sd /sdcard/ error: devices not found

adb thinks your phone is not connected.

Please confirm
1) your phone is booted into android
2) you have USB debugging enabled
3) your phone is plugged into the computer

If you don't have USB debugging enabled, you won't be able to use screencast and you won't be able to connect using adb. That is the immediate issue. You are saying you are unable to go to menu->settings->applications->development->usb debugging?

Wait, you still have FCs after doing a menu->settings->privacy->reset? If you can't do that, and can't get screencast working, you can do the factory reset blind from recovery. Look at the attached images.

After booting to recovery:
Press [Vol Dwn] TWICE to highlight "wipe data/factory reset"
Press [Menu] to select
Press [Vol Dwn] SEVEN times to highlight "Yes -- delete all user data"
Press [Menu] to select

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH

This thread really needs to be stickied and the older methods removed. Noe one is going to want to root an old OS anymore. Let them fall to the bottom.

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH

Made it painless to sticky, referenced rooting instructions for ZV8/ZV9 and ZVC/ZVD so they don't get lost.

Great idea and good work! Nobody looks at the stickies anyway.... :p

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH

Thanks for the guide, was able to do this with relative ease. I don't have time now, but I will be rooting later today or this week.

I ran into a small problem when flashing stock V9 recovery (step 3). It said something about insufficient storage space. I had many apps so my internal storage was running low. I just uninstalled a few of them and voila, all's well. So I would suggest doing the factory reset before doing step three, if like me, you are short on storage.

P.S I had about 19 mb of internal storage left.

Thanks again.:)

Re: [How-To] Rooting LS670ZVH

Thanks for the very detailed guide. I was able to upgrade and root without issue. Since I was already on a stock VD all I did was install the V9 recovery and then installed the OTA VH update. I then rooted. Everything seems to be working smoothly, but I do have two questions:

1. If I find any problems and decide to do a factory reset, I should be able to do that from within android since I am still on the V9 recovery, correct?

2. If I do a factory reset, I assume all I would lose (besides my apps/data) is root access which would just need to be re-done via step 6 in the OP. Is this right?
