You didn't mention it, but you did root ZVD first before flashing V9 recovery right? IMO I cannot flash stock V9 recovery until I flash my device in ZVD.

Now just to confirm, when you do the last "adb shell" and are saying you can't reconnect, are you waiting for the USB ding sounds to complete or are you trying right away. (Yeah this might be the problem as soon as I get out of the shell i fire the command right away ) It might not let you connect right away, but after a few USB dings, it should.

Also, I went to ZVD using the KP500 method.

Hi, I wasn't questioning reverting to ZVD. I was clarifying whether you *rooted* ZVD, because you didn't mention it. I also said I'm assuming you did because you didn't mention any errors, which there would have been if you didn't root ZVD.

does anyone know, can I boot a pc using my phone with parted magic?
is there a recovery which mounts the sd card in a bootable manner?
if not I'll just find a pc, and can I use a Mac? for rooting that is!
my friend has a mac, all I know is debian etch linux windows dos I'm no apple guy!!

All you really need is to run adb for a really short period. adb runs on various platforms including linux, mac, and windows.

hmm, i have a pc but only in guest mode no admin priveleges cant install usb driver

now thats odd, windows just installed some driver for the optimus s in recovery mode and it comes up as drive f:\
not explorable, not detected by adb though a micro sd is in the phone too...hmm

It installs a multi-mode USB driver. It can act as ADB bridge or mass storage device or DM modem.
You won't see the drive contents unless you enable mass storage mode on the phone. The drive you see is just a placeholder.

You can copy the contents of the root packages to the phone in mass storage mode or just taking out the sd card. The part where you need to run adb is to run rage.

yes I was trying to see if this driver would let me use adb, if I can get the shell open then everythings good to go from there, but I've needed a bootable drive/disc for sometime now, just been going around using a pc for anything til now

What do you mean adb bridge?

ok sweetness I have a parted magic boot cd, now running parted magic in RAM HAHA no mo admin b.s. lol,, now I gotta get these drivers set up in linux, this -should - be easy..

Yes, adb bridge is the USB interface to the phone that adb speaks to. I believe it shows up as Android Sooner bridge or something like that.

didnt work
all i need to do is figure out how to set up the usb drivers in linux and I'm good, I'm running parted magic, I love this platform it;s so much faster

Something is probably wrong with your update.zip file. Try verifying the md5sum matches what was posted.

From adb shell

busybox md5sum /sdcard/update.zip

If it doesn't match, redownload the ZVH update.zip If it does match, post back and we'll figure out what is wrong.

Thanks for checking the source file. I think it is probably a problem on manny's side. All three mirrors had the correct md5sum when first tested.

Havent tried, had to get back to cm7 so i can get info since im just getting file from my phone so its hard for me to tell but

That is one reason the instructions provide a way to wipe from within Android.
