How to rebuild an S8+

My husband's phone has been doing weird things for a year . Uploads random pictures into Dropbox, creates chat groups in Facebook, calls people randomly, sends random emails. When we get a new phone, we usually just have them port over everything from the previous phone.

I'd like to wipe the phone and rebuild from scratch. Does anyone have any tips or things I should look out for if doing this? Thanks!

Simply factory reset it after backing up any important pictures/etc...

If that doesn't fix your issue, you will need to have the latest stock firmware reflashed with Odin.

Create a back up to Samsung cloud , and smart switch on the computer as always , do the factory reset in settings and set it up new and just restore message,contacts,apps,photos from Samsung cloud restore as you can choose what you want and google back up and manually put in rest of things remaining.

Can I put the SIM card into another spare phone, so that my husband has a phone to work with while I continuing rebuilding his existing phone? I guess I'm wondering if you can rebuild a phone without a SIM card in it.

Yes definitely through wifi

mustang7757, I've already backed up using Samsung Cloud. Do I also have to backup using SmartSwitch or is that just redundant? It's hanging on 22% on SmartSwitch.

Just use Samsung cloud it back up data also ,I use smart switch as a extra back up
