[How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD, using KP500 (Diag mode)

when I perform step [h] and type C: dir nothing happens. no such dir appears. if I type just dir then appears my drive C: with information that have nothing to do with LS670ZV9.cab

A am lost.

Any help would be appreciated.
I don't really care about what is in your C: drive. I care about what is in your C:\KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2 folder.

Step (h) has 4 separate commands. I need you to run the 3 bolded commands so I can verify if whether you have the C:\KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2 directory and whether you have the correct contents. Please post the output of each of the commands when you are done.

c:
cd \KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2

ren LS670ZV9_20.S9_20.P60671.cab LS670ZV9.cab

ok, sooo...I recently received this phone and would really enjoy rooting it. I noticed the red text and it made me wonder. IF it is the case that mine happens to have that new hardware wouldn't I just be able to simply use the mobile updater to re update back to zvd?

This is probably a brutally obvious answer (which i'm pretty sure it is) I'd just like to make sure.

There currently isn't a VD update from Sprint, so you won't get any notifications to update to VD from your phone, at least not yet. But even if it does become available, it may affect your phone differently than if you were to update with the LG updater.

Yes, that is exactly what you could/would do. If you follow the link provided in warning #2 it gives you a procedure to get root and go to any ROM you want.

Sorry it sounded a bit scarier than it is. Downgrading to something (recovery or ROM) which doesn't have the right LCD drivers is not an end of the world situation, although it can be scary if you weren't aware of the issue. You can always use KP500 to flash back to what you had before, though if you've gone this far, you might as well get root for your troubles and follow the suggested procedure.

I'll change the warning a little so this is more obvious.

wait what? I'm a bit confused, I might have a compleatly different version of (firmware?) than I originally thought. Under "SW Version" i'm looking at LS670ZVD..But I very well might just be confused.

Alright, thanks mate...if I run into any problems i'm sure you guys will hear from me again. :P

I didn't realize they're updating new phones with the VD radio. I guess I'm the one who's confused and perhaps have misunderstood your question. Don't mind me. :p

I am not new to rooting at all, but my issue is when I download the zip file LS67 to extract as a .cab, I get this option as file types instead of .cab.

LS670ZV9_20.S9_20.P60671.wdb (file type wdb)
LS670ZV9_20.S9_20.P60671.wdh (file type wdh)

I know they should be .cab right from the start, and when I go to cmd, I can't rename them cause they aren't showing as cab files? Please help asap cause Ive spent 13 hours trying ways to root my wifes phone and this is the only thing holding me back right now.

Something on your windows box is unpacking the cab file.

Try right clicking on the file download link and choosing "Save Target As..."

just as you sent that I uninstalled winrar and let vista 64bit extract the file as a whole, worked like a charm in cmd, now doing the lg update as we speak...fingers crossed X.

Updated successfull, said completed...now I have a black screen that makes noises on the phone. What is one to do now?

Let me guess, you have a relatively recent phone which came from the factory with VC?

Did you read the RED Warning #2?

5) Place the following files in your ADB tools directory then ADB push them to /sdcard

what do you mean adb tools directory??
because I tried putting it in tools and the platform-tools and both said something about /sdcard not a directory or something of that nature.

Sorry, I was missing an ending slash '/'. It should be pushed to /sdcard/

I updated the instructions.

well I finally got it rooted in V9 though my stupid LCD issue but when trying to flash back to VD I get this error at 100% on connecting to phone.

"Updating is not possible any longer due to a fatal error while the LG Mobile Phone Software Update.

The .cab you have for VD doesn't match the checksum you have for me...tried it twice

right click saved as
renamed
ran fsum
fsum =a3be93ca7a92b3fe505cb213893b15a0 *LS670ZVD.cab

I dont know if this made a diff but the site where the .cab is being hosted is down or well it's giving me a link is broken...that didn't even process to me until now...could that be why it's failing?

Zefie just recently moved the files. I updated the links.

The checksum is correct based on the cab file I used when updating, which was from Zefie's archive about a week ago. Unless the file has changed, the checksum should still be good. I'm downloading it again to verify but you should be able to download it right now. The links are good now.

And yes, the error you are seeing is related either to a file naming problem or file corruption problem.

Your cab file is either not complete or corrupt. I just downloaded the file from Zefie's archive and the checksum matched what I provided. I'm guessing he might have moved it while you were downloading it so you got a partial file.

The file size is below:
99,499,001 LS670ZVD_12.SD_12.P60675.cab

Ty very much I got it and everything went fine...got back to VD but now I can seem to log into recovery (tried home+vol up (then down)+power button

and nothing says I have root...sooo I did it again...from start to finish everything again went smooth, and yet nothing says I have root.

downloaded a root checker, and superuser hoping that would fix it lol, nothing. read somewhere about a terminal emulator so downloaded that and su keeps getting me permission denied...wtf

please help me figure this out.

hmm..ok the lg updater has been sitting at 12% for about 20 minutes...

should i disconnect and try again? or just let it sit for a bit longer?

any help would be appreciative....
