[How-to] Revert to LS670V9, after installing OTA LS670VC/VD, using KP500 (Diag mode)

Then you pointed out the error you noticed so i went back checked the first log it was as you suggested so instead of running a redundant test (knowing it would fail cause nothing was done different)
...
help me fix what ever may be wrong with what im doing. which i got to say, im not seeing that i am, everything is installed as the instuctions demand that i can tell
...
--->"How ever i thing i know what went wrong ..... i did type in C:\LS670ZV9 what shold i have typed just the cab name or the location in the C:\KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2 dir to be C:\KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2\LS670ZV9.cab"
You realize of course I'm trying to help you get everything fixed right? From the winzip error, to the clerical error in the output posting, to the typo in step (n).

Obviously it will seem like you are doing everything correct or you wouldn't be here asking questions, however when most of the time other people are getting things to work, the likelihood is something specific to what you are doing is causing the issue, so even if you feel it is redundant, it is worth it to try what people suggest.

In step (k) you should have typed 3 commands separately
c:
cd \KP500-Utils-EN-v0.4.2
KP500-Utils-EN.exe

in step (m) "Model #" you should have typed

in step (n) "cab filename" you should have typed
LS670ZV9.cab

in step (o) "version" you should have typed
LS670ZV9_20

There should be no errors. Even if you feel it is redundant and unnecessary, could you go back and carefully type that, then post the log if there is failure.

Also could you read Drew's post and see whether you renamed the cab file within windows explorer or had followed the directions and done it from the DOS prompt?

LG Drivers:
Tried the drivers from the other thread per request, doesn't appear to be making any difference on the home premium box, I didn't try them on the ultimate box as it works already.

Also just for info, I didn't explain how I was able to make the ultimate box do it, I did not use the F8 function per the other suggestion as this had not made a difference on teh home premium box.

Instead, and this is why it won't work on home premium; I used the gpedit.msc (local group policy editor). To set the driver policy manually.

I know others have been able to make the F8 option work, but for those who have the policy editor as an option they should be aware it is possible and serves as a permanent solution (assuming they aren't scared to leave their driver signing turned off).

to do so, on a machine that has the option:
goto run
input gpedit.msc
under user configuration search for 'Administrative Templates'
Than 'System'
and 'Driver Installation'
you would double click 'Code signing for device drivers'
choose enable, than in the underlying options either ignore (for no prompt) or warn (if you want a prompt when installing unsigned drivers).

This method should also work in some versions of Vista, the only ones I have confirmed it does not work in are the Home Premium versions, hope this helps someone :D

That's good to know, I'll update the first post with a reference to your post.

My impression in the past was even though the home versions didn't have group policy editor, you can still change the registry to modify the behavior, just couldn't do it from the gpedit interface. Just something to consider if there are underlying registry changes that could be isolated outside of gpedit.msc

Ok so if i read this right...

my phone needs to be rooted to backup user data

but titanium backup needs the phone to be rooted to do that

but i'm running on ZVD which cannot be rooted

so am i screwed? is there another way i can backup my user data?

if the LG tool gets stuck at 35% checking the phone model, make sure you are booted into Android and not the Recovery partition.

How?

Thanks for the help with everything, but I don't have a clue how to make sure I'm booted into Android.

I'll try it again and see what happens. input would be great, though.

Thanks!

Android just means your regular phone with your home screen, etc.

Thanks. So, I know I'm in my regular Android Homescreen.

But I'm still getting stuck at 35% of analysis. This is my second time, so I'll give it another.

Hey Cullen, when you boot your phone up it goes into either android or recovery mode.
Android should be easy to recognize as this will be the actual OS where you would normally find yourself when you turn on the phone, recovery would display what looks like a text prompt with several options in it, almost like a boot menu.

Stock recovery for example should look like THIS
If you check out the thread for rooting VD you can find links to see screenshots of both xionia and drellisdee's recovery.

EDIT: It seems I missed the part where mastermind had already answered that question, *shrug*

Thanks guys. I know now that I'm booted in Android. However, it isn't allowing me to get past the 35% mark.

Any ideas? As soon as my phone is charged again (I had to use it at work) I'll reboot and go once again.

Then KP500 is having troubles communicating with your phone. There is probably a driver problem.

Can you run LG Mobile Updater tools by itself (not via KP500) and see if it can communicate with your phone?

BTW are you using Win7?

I'll try and see.

Yes, I am running 7. Do I need to run it in XP mode?
I tihnk you need to have run the installer in XP compatible mode when you installed the LG Mobile Updater. Also for the drivers to work, I believe you need to disable driver signing. I don't have a Win7 box, so I'm going by what others have posted. There are links to how people got it working in the first post when it tells you to download LG Mobile Updater.

Thanks!

Time to go link jumping. I'll post with my next success/fail.

EDIT: That must be it. I now have LG updater and KP500 running in XP SP3 compatibility mode.

EDIT: Ignore the below. I rebooted my phone and pc again and it worked. You guys are Geniuses. Really.

Didn't fix it. the only difference is the KP500 command opens a new command window of it's own.

I have KP500, and every .exe in the LG updater running in compatibility mode.

Help?

Download from here
[APP] z4root - xda-developers

Place in your adb tools directory (whereever adb.exe is)

In command prompt, type:
adb install z4root.1.3.0.apk

Alternately, you could just place it in the /data/app directory on your phone and reboot.

When updating to VD using the mobile update tool, it broke my custom recovery. Upgraded to VD using the kp500 method and all was good. I was using Xionia.
