[How-To] Root, Custom Recovery, NANDroid Backup

I have the Optimus Slider VM701 and have followed the instructions on page 1 and the YouTube video. After I press the Enter key, the message reads "Daemon started successfully" but goes no further. I have the latest drivers installed, Debugging, User Development and Charging Only selected. I have the LG Mobile Drivers 3.06 installed and version 2.3.4

Any suggestions?

I just got this phone today and rooted and flashed custom recovery without any problems. Any chance someone could post the stock recovery in the event the phone needs to be returned?

If you followed the directions then you should have made a nandroid backup... which will take it back to stock with only ROOT access.. if not... then the stock ROM is located in the forum.. I don't have time to link it right now.. just search it

No no, I didn't mean the stock ROM, I meant the stock recovery image that came with the phone. Someone had to have pulled that.

you were supposed to do it your first time in recovery. You cant pull a recovery off these

the enter key doesn't work in terminal emulator. i tried hacker's keyboard and gingerbread keyboard and they don't work. any idea? i'm tryin 2 install a custom recovery.

Are you hitting the "ok" button or the "return" button?

Yes return is enter on a PC but on these phones OK is enter

You are probably going to have to call virgin mobile and talk to their customer support about your problem. It sounds like you have a bad phone.

Also posting the same message on multiple threads is annoying and probably against the rules and could result in your being banned.

This is my first time trying to setup a recovery on my Optimus V. I am running through the steps on this thread and so far so good. But, now I am getting an error when I am entering the commands into the terminal:

su
mount -o remount, rw /system
cp /sdcard/flash_image /system/bin
cp: not found

As I said, I am new to this. I have tried and retried entering the text a number of times. Can someone tell me what I may be doing wrong?

Make sure you unzipped the flash image.zip file. Make sure you have copied the flash image file to the sdcard. Make sure the file is named flash_image not flash_image.zip. Make sure you have unmounted the sdcard from your computer.

Thanks for this, the recovery works great.

I really wish CWM recoveries came with adb enabled... :(
