hey fellas, Droid noob here. (former iphone turned good. lol)
unfortunately i am trying to root my infuse from my girl's mac and i too get the "froyo detected" reply.
still awaiting a response to the numerous members here with this problem...

For you Mac guys, download Heimdall and Community Kernel v8 . Extract the Zimage, put phone in Download mode and flash the Zimage using heimdall.

Note: heimdall is Java based.

But those with a PC get rid of Gingerbreak, find and download a copy of SuperOneClick 1.9.1, which is NOT, the latest release. As long as you are running Froyo, it will root your phone. You do not need to be in download mode.

Note: Always put your phone in Debug mode first.

I do not know what happened but when I did reboot it looked as if it was rooted, then when it turned on, the market place was the older version (mine had movie rentals before now it doesn't) and ur app wasn't in my app drawer. help?

Okay, I tried to root my phone with Gingerbread first time. it went well. after rebooting my phone, I found that my phone didn't root.. so, im trying to reboot second time. hopefully it gonna work

I have a question... I'm on a Mac and every time the root process hangs up indefinitely... I've tried removing my battery and restarting, tried rebooting my mac, and nothing works. Any suggestions?
