Excellent. Thanks again Dirrk. Now how does one fill in the voids & consolidate the app screens?

You should be able to manually move them over within the launcher or do a restart and it should clear out the voids. Or use a different launcher

I have tried several times to do this root, but I keep getting messages that say can't be found, etc. Trying to do a print screen, but I don't remember how!! :(

You hit print screen and then open paint and hit paste...

What cant be found ? probably the files your probably in the wrong directory please check the folders are correct

@ Dirrk: something about the su can't be found. I'm in the correct directory, I think. Let me try again since I know you're out there and if it doesn't work, I will print screen so you can see the error of my ways.

I downloaded all of the links you provided. Do you remember which link has this file?

I edited mine you actually do have the folder there and I am assuming you dont have the files in it please check.

The actual file is at the very bottom it says attached file: fascinate.rar

I'm going to dump everything in the fascinate folder and reinstall. I need both 32bit and 64 bit downloads, correct? In addition to the the android-sdk...?

No. Only one of the drivers. You either have a 32bit computer or a 64bit computer. You are almost there. You just need to get the fascinate.rar file from the original post and extract it into the C:\fascinate

Dirrk, your directions are excellent. I rooted on my first attempt with them. But I have a question. Shouldn't there be a command to mount the system back to read only at the end? I ask because I tried to save the Bing search .apk in Root Explorer to.apk.bak, but it's not letting me mount the system back to read only. So it's not holding after I exit out. Would this problem come from me mounting the system as read write when I started the rooting process?

I actually just restarted my phone after the root process and it remounts it. If you are having problems with that you could restart to have it mounted right. I honestly have never had a problem with having the system mounted but I do not use root explorer I find it is much easier to do it through adb shell.

Last question (hopefully). How do I know what kind of computer I have? It's a PC running Vista.

It doesn't matter man you already have the drivers installed because adb has noticed your phone when you typed adb devices.

Just download the fascinate.rar and extract the files and then start back at adb push where you left off

Good info^^ You might want to go ahead and put a sticky up with the apps we have successfully removed and which ones not to touch.

I can safely say if it is made by Samsung and has ANYTHING to do with touchwiz it will forceclose repeatedly.

Thanks, Dirrk. I did as you suggested.

@Redboneqt, No this is simple. You might want to reconsider rooting your phone today. Maybe just take the rest of the day to do something else. Then get a fresh start another day because its whooping your a$$ right now and its extremely simple. Maybe a break will help you out man seems like your right there your just missing something simple that you over looked
