[How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and OTA works too!)

If anyone is brave enough i need someone to test this auto root and tell me if they come across any errors. Please be confident in rooting before you attempt this

I cant wait, thanks dude :)
If you have no clue what just happened, he scripted the process.

Idk if I'm about to get flamed, but I'm completely ignorant when it comes to rooting.
This is my first attempt to root any device, and I was looking through this post and noticed everything is geared for Windows. Are there instructions for how to do it on OS X anywhere?

im tempted to unroot and try that out

That would be great, i cant know if it works if no one tries it

it shouldnt be to hard to do on a mac, i will talk to my friend braydon or if there is someone else with a mac that knows a little bit about adb that would work with me we could get this done

Thanks man, that'd be awesome. I'd really appreciate it.

I know I'm missing out on a lot of good stuff by not having my device rooted.

UPDATE on my attempt to make an auto root:
Ok so the problem is that gingerbreak only gives you shell root vs temp root. meaning you only have root access while its in the shell. This does not allow the script to continue, I have no idea how to work around this or if there a way. But ill keep working on it . if i ever come up with something ill announce it. Special thanks to jcwxguy for screen sharing to allow me to see the script in action

I'm not sure if you already figured out how to do this on a Mac, but for the most part it is the same instructions. The major difference may be at the top when it says that it already assumes that you have the Android SDK installed in order to run the adb program. Once you are using adb, it's pretty platform-agnostic. Here is a post on how to get the Android SDK (and adb) installed on a Mac:

edit: doesnt work with DroidXcons file, so dont download it

You both are crazy and/or dedicated :p. Thanks!

My daughter has an Optimus that was given to her that is stock with zvd. She wants me to root it for her. Am I correct in my thinking that I could use Terminal Emulator for this method? I was thinking I could even use Share Keyboard to type the commands into TE and use Astro to move zip to root of sd and extract the files.
